A FIERCE BATLLE IN NORMANDY 🥀 ▪️ Powerful Then & Now photograph we took yesterday in the vicinity of Marigny, Normandy. In the late part of July 1944, a fierce battle took place in this French town located on the western part of St-Lo. Many American units fought in this sector such as the 9th and 30th Infantry Division but the vicinity of Marigny was liberated on July 27, 1944, thanks to the tenacity of the men of the 1st Infantry Division and Combat Command B, 3rd Armored Divison. Many soldiers and French civilians died during that intense battle, we should never forget them. #photography #noisecash #randomthoughts
