Pride month is celebrated annually, it is a month long celebration. The pride day is June 28 every year. Know that it is not just a celebration but, it is also a protest. It is a fight for the rights and injustices of the members of the community.

PRIDE is an acronym for Personal Rights in Defense and Education.

History of Pride. Who started it?

Pride was coordinated by an American woman and was known as the "Mother of Pride", she is Brenda Howard. She is considered as one of the important figures in the LGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY. Since then, Pride is annually celebrated every June. But why the month of June? Because it was the time when the Stonewall riots took place in 1969.

Why do we celebrate Pride?

Every day the members of the LGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY experience harassment, discrimination, violence, and worst death. This celebration promotes sexual diversity. This serves as awareness on how the members face different dilemma on a daily basis. For the community, this is a protest to fight for their rights and be identified for who they are.

What is the result of Pride?

Since then, many rights have been formed for the LGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY and 29 countries have made it legal to have same sex marriage. Although the injustices still remain, the protest has played a huge role to lessen it.

My message to my fellow members of the community.

You have fought for the life that you have right now. Continue to fight for equality and abolish discrimination and violence against our community. Remember to always be kind to other people. Padayon! ✊🏳️‍🌈
