In my Country Nigeria we believe the elders/older ones should be accorded much respect. Especially my tribe. You prostrate to great the elders if you are a boy and kneel if you're a girl. Our way of showing respect is by using "Sir" "Ma" "Ma'am". I find it hard not to use it for people that are older than me or people i regard with much respect. But our cultures are different. It takes time but I'm adapting. But i still have much respect for you all. Fun fact: Giving out things to someone older with your left hand is a great offence. A big one 🤣 you will be chastised and even punished if you do.
