During our stay in the community we visited a small hut resided by one of the elders in the community. She is alone in managing her house. During our visit we notice her roof is torned and decaying. The volunteers decided to make a native roof for the elder named Omarakan 94 years young. The volunteers climb the coconut tree and pluck several branches and then collected the leaves. Grab some roots and shred it to make it as a small rope to tie the leaves. The weaving of the leaves roof took around an hour to complete with everyone in the team to work on it. Please see the attached photo for your reference. It took 2 hours to complete the native roof. Some of the volunteers also fetch some water for the elder to ease her back from carrying the water from the river which is their water source. The elder name Omarakan joyful thank the volunteers for repairing her broken roof but also fetching some water for her usage and lastly for the food packs, medications and hygiene kits. She wish good tiding and the diety of the forest to bless and guide the volunteers in their mission in life. Thats all for now, we will be back shortly as the rain have subsided.
