Time for some literal world facts: Earth’s radius at the equator is 3,963 miles (6,378 km), according to NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. But if you think the Earth is perfectly round, think again. Because of our planet’s rotation, there is a slight bulge at the equator. In fact, Earth’s polar radius is 3,950 miles (6,356 km), which is a difference of 13 miles (22 km). If the planet were a perfect sphere, that difference wouldn’t exist.
