My partner isn't the typical romantic type. Well, I think it's mainly because I'm too fussy and I have my own preferences. But no, not romantic. Not exactly the type who will serenade you with love words, romantic poems or even sweet messages. So unlike me. A total opposite. I'm still waiting for sweet, lovey dovey messages or words to make my heart flutter. But my partner is the type who does things because action is louder than words. Sick? Medicine and presence. Craving for something? Let's go there or let's order something. Bored? Let's go out and drive to nowhere. I guess that's what it means opposite attracts. How come a hopeless romantic like me is attracted to someone who is not romantic. Like I said, total opposite. Appreciate your partner. You may have different ideas of a perfect partner. Someone who is straight out of fairytale books or movies. A prince charming, a beautiful princess. Perfect hair, chiseled jawline, round bosom, glittery eyes. But life isn't a fairytale, I'm sorry. We are all not perfect. I have my flaws, so does my partner. Same goes to you, your partners and people you adore. The sooner you realize this, the better. Because some people expect so much from their partner they thought love, affection and compassion can just be bought or found in a box of cereal. It doesn't work that way. Fairytale is nothing like what we are having right now. Love is pain, and pain is love. They come together, like a combo. You can never get one without experiencing another one. But there's always a happy ending. If not now, maybe later. Maybe in an alternate universe. Someone used to tell me that everyone is broken in their own way. We all are. Broken. Shattered. Torn. You just have to find someone who can still see you as a perfect, whole masterpiece. And appreciate you. Love is when he or she sees you through and knows your truest heart, but loves you anyway. The dark, horrendous, ugly side of yours and the good side too. It comes in a package. No one is perfect, we all are flawed. And because of that, he or she loves you anyway. Your partner will embrace and accept the differences, as how you accept and embraces his or hers. These differences will either bring you closer or divide you. Because when you're in love, you have to be realistic and keep your feet on the ground. Don't fly too high. When there is happiness, there will be sadness. When there is sunshine, the dark clouds aren't too far away either. It's not going to be sunny days all the time. Because there's heartache and pain. Anger and frustration. Guilt and grief. Hatred and disappointment. It's like a tsunami of wrecked emotions all wrapped into one. It's not all about finding the perfect partner. It's not about trying to find someone who will not hurt you. Because love is pain and pain is love. It's almost inevitable. You just have to find someone who is worth suffering for. The Comedian — 🌸
