Spoilers Ahead! You've been warned.

Premise of the Film

Within the 2008 film titled, 'Jumper'. The audience gets introduced to a character named, David Rice. Who is a student attending high school, who happens to have a crush on a another student named, Millie Harris. It wasn't before long an incident happened, which made David realize that he possesses the ability to teleport. When he accidentally teleported to his local library. This psychic ability is referred to as jumping and people who have this psychic ability are referred to as Jumpers.

The film then reveals that David's dad, Carl Rice, is a person who drinks a lot of alcohol and a very abusive father. Which explains why he and David don't get along very well. David knowing that he can 'jump', simply didn't want to live with his father no more. David then starts he journey with his new found ability to create a new life for himself in New York City. By robbing a bank, with the wealth that he stole, he bought himself an apartment in New York City. David's new life in New York City involves him reading, going out to bars and jumping to various places around the world.

At this point in the film, what David didn't know is that there are people, who are members of a secret religious society. Who are referred to as Paladins. The members of this secret religious society believe that people who can 'jump' are a disgrace to God and that they must be eliminated. One of these members, who is referred to as Roland, justify their actions by claiming that, "Only God should have the power to be all places at all times". After David robbed one of the banks, that attracted the attention of Roland and members of this secret religious society. How Roland got involved was revealed in the film that he works for the NSA ( National Security Agency ). What intrigued Roland to the bank that David robbed.

Was the report of large amounts of U.S. Dollars gone missing with cameras capturing no footage of the robbery taking place. Roland then theorized that a person who has this 'jumping' ability is the person responsible for the large amounts of U.S. Dollars gone missing. As time went on in the film David then sees the unforeseen consequences of his actions when he saw Roland in his apartment attempting to capture him. David then escapes with the some of the stolen money in a hidden room within his apartment. The film then reveals how the people who are Paladins were able to capture David and others like him was by targeting their loved ones. The film then reveals that there is a 'war' going on between Jumpers and Paladins that dates back to medieval times as told by Griffin who is a person like David who can 'jump'.

Note: I'm not going to reveal everything that happens in the movie just to be aware of that.

Like David, Griffin steals, he steals a vehicle in Japan. He and David go on for a crazy ride telling each other that their mothers took off when they were five years old. Then there was a scene in the movie, where David and Griffin were fighting Roland. At the end of the film, David gets a head start as stated by his mother who is revealed to be a Paladin as David and Millie jump away.

So what are the incentives that are taking place in this film?

David is heavily incentivized, by knowing that he can get away from any legal trouble that he finds himself in by using his ability to jump to various places. Which is why it's shown in the film that he robs a bank. Incentives do have a influence in our decision making. Which explains why Griffin steals a vehicle in Japan and a bunch of other stuff as well. David and Griffin both would be referred to as thieves. What influenced David and Griffin to steal is because of the incentives that are present are different.

If you had this ability to 'jump', you would've been incentivized to do things that you normally wouldn't do if you didn't have this ability. A normal person who steals would be captured easily, but for someone liked David who has the ability to 'jump', not so easily. Though not impossible to capture someone with this ability as shown within the film. All incentives do is that it influences our decision making. An incentive is not a guarantee that the person would do the things that they were incentivized to do.
