Today I learned it is Britain's fault the USA uses the word Soccer to describe 'Football' Back in the 1800's the British people took the medieval game of "football" and adapted their own rules and started playing it. But in order to keep the rules standardized they created various organizations. "Rugby Football" was one and that is the game we know of Rugby. One of the other associations was called "Association Football" which was later shortened to "Assoc" which was then shortened to "soccer". Between 1960 and 1980 the words "soccer" and "football" were used interchangeable in ENGLAND.. Then around 1980 Britain stopped using the word "soccer" as much because it had an American connotation... So really all you English people that don't like that I call the sport "soccer" well it's really your fault. You created the word then when your cool younger brother started using it you decided it was improper. But your cooler younger brother is still using the word that YOU created. Take that English people!! #RandomThoughts
