Honest Question: If you post something mean or hurtful I will report and block you.. Fair warning I received an e-mail today and in the sender's e-mail signature it had his name and then (he/him) after his name. And it got me thinking more about people picking pronouns. Now let me set the record straight, that I totally approve of each person getting to decide 'what' they want to be called and how they identify as. However I started to wonder.. Wasn't that the point of using Mr. or Mrs. or Miss before your name? So that people would know if you were a boy/girl or man/women? And now I know that only having 2 options isn't sufficient in 2021 however I started to wonder how does one person come to the realization that they want to be called "They/Them". Like is it because 'they' feel like they don't fit into the "boy/girl" dynamic and wanted that 3rd option we never had before? In describing this person in this post I have already referred to "THEM" as a "THEY" so I do not have anything against the words themselves or that the words are being used out of context or definition. However it just perplexes me as to how someone comes to identifying as they/them.. or maybe that is the wrong way to ask it. Why would someone want to be called a 'they/them'? Yeah I think that is a better explanation to what I am wondering.. I will be the first to admit I am ignorant to a lot of theses things so this is me trying to learn and ask questions and have an open discussion.
