Flowee Pay Release: protected wallets
The 1st of August is coming up and Bitcoin Cash celebrates its liberation day. For 5 years now we've been growing and building on actual peer to peer cash!
Flowee Pay is much younger, about 2 years old now. Flowee Pay is a cross-platform payment application and we have a new release with various fine new features.
The main new feature this release is that each wallet can separately be protected using one of two schemes: "Pin to Pay" or "Pin to Open".
Wallets with "Pin to Open" are completely hidden from view and you won't be able to see the historical transactions or the balance until you open it.
Wallets with "Pin to Pay" keep showing all historical transactions and keep their balance updated, but to send funds you need to enter your chosen passphrase.
Wallets need to be manually protected, without your interaction they will simply stay as they are and will not ask for a password.
To get started, you click on the so called "hamburger menu" (the 3 dots on the right of your account) and select "Protect With Pin...". The following screen helps you to protect your wallet.
Both types of protected wallets protect the important details 'at rest' by encrypting your precious data on disk. The encryption technique shows our common roots with the full node software as the same technique and algorithms are used as the Bitcoin Core wallet we share our heritage with.
We took extra time to test this and make this feel finished to make sure that the quality stays high and users don't lose any data. During testing we also ended up doing a large number of bugfixes, usability improvements and even some impressive speedups during sync.
Hope you enjoy the release, you can find Linux downloads at our project page on flowee.org. Find us on Twitter, Telegram.
