What Peverse Act Of Justice?... What Kind Of Wicked Monstrosity?

**Friday, 15th October** Good day to everyone, I'm delighted writing this article on this auspicious day. I hope you're all holding up alright. It's been quite a while since I shared my last writeup on here. Anyway, I'm glad that I have something to share today.

Today, I will be sharing a fictional story. In as much as the story is fictitious, it doesn't take away from the fact that there are true aspects to the story. After thoroughly reading the story you'll come to see that even in civilised societies, inhumane, derogatory savage acts still occur till date. And so it begins... ~~~~~

I was going about my business, buying groceries from one of the stalls at the market when the incident happened. Suddenly, we heard a great noise which started from one of the nearby stalls. Everyone was alarmed, almost hysterical even and I couldn't continue the haggling of price I was engaged in with the seller. My curiosity got the better of me, I suspended what I was doing and tried to see what was happening. The noise became louder as the crowd pursuing a suspected thief came closer to me.

Just like a prey running for its life from a predator, a young man ran in my direction. While I was trying to see what was really happening, the young man ran across the grocery stall where I was and I noticed the mob following a significant distance behind him shouting; ole! ole!! ("o-le" means "thief" in Yoruba language) As he was running, he was pleading his innocence but the crowd, defiant and determined as they were, gave him a hot chase. As the noise was spreading like wildfire to the other parts of the market, a man, who must have sighted the alleged suspect and the crowd not far behind him, ran towards the accused and brought him down with a great stall.

The alleged suspect fell down and the mob of angry traders like savages, converged on him venting their anger in vicious and voracious attacks. They were throwing stones on him and before we knew what was happening another man came with some petrol and a bunch of tyres. Without listening to the suspect or a chance at a fair trial, the tyre was hung on his neck and he was doused with petrol. Before one woman could bring the match that was used to set him ablaze, the accused suspect pleaded frantically in a faint voice; a plea to which the angry mob paid no mind to. He was set on fire as he made the last attempt to struggle for survival, all to no avail. He was burnt to death before our very eyes. How barbaric!!!

It was after the man had been set on fire that the woman whose money the angry mob claimed was stolen ran down to report that she had found her money. The damage already had been done and there was nobody to be held responsible as the crowd dispersed immediately. *A/N: What perverse act of justice? What kind of wicked monstrosity is this?? The public should be enlightened not to take the laws into their hands. They should be informed that jungle justice is against the norms of any civilised society like ours. It just so sad that monstrous acts like this still occur and goes unpunished. This story might be fictional but sadly, wicked acts like this still occur.
