The European Commission has yesterday presented an package of legislative proposals to strengthen the EU's anti-money laundering and countering terrorism financing (AML/CFT) rules. Cryptocurrencies are also mentioned in this proposal. That is why Bitcoin Cash is also affected. Among other things, it says: "In addition, anonymous crypto asset wallets will be prohibited, fully applying EU AML/CFT rules to the crypto sector." https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_21_3690 How are they going to enforce it? There are many open source wallets such as electron cash. Will the source code be banned? Or will PCs and smartphones be spied on and examined to see if the software has not been installed there? The EU is not allowed to spy on its citizens. Anyone could sue the government and win the case. Do these people even know what they are writing about? I suspect that the people writing these proposals have no idea how crypto works technically. They could just as well pass a law banning environmental disasters, floods, droughts and the like.
