Ethereum plans to reduce transaction fees by increasing the block size (as BCH has done) with the EIP1559 update in July. Here you can see which miners are in favour and which are against. https://stopeip1559.org I 'm curious to see whether something like what happened with Bitcoin in 2017, where a fork was the result, will happen with Ethereum. However, the Etherereum community is probably not as toxic and there is not as much social engineering as when Bitcoin Cash was fought with all means. #Cryptocurrency

There was already a large forking event that created Ethereum Classic, and that one kept the original algorithm they used that actually is minable by ASICs, sadly. I think they don't really mind the block size increase. They're more worried about burning fees.
