There was a powerful earthquake in the Philippines on Thursday. The intensity of this earthquake measured high on the Richter scale, yes 7.2 is too high for losses. The earthquake occurred in the Philippines on Thursday afternoon at 12:23 pm. The epicenter was almost 200 km away from the Philippines though, but intensity being too high at 7.2 it made life heck for the citizens of one of my beloved countries the Philippines.
They say there was chaos after this earthquake. What do you expect after such a big hit, though?. People ran out of their homes, and that was natural. No? Residents of Davao, a major Philippine commercial center, felt tremors too, and I hate that as I especially love Davao. There are no casualties and losses not so far and according to experts, there is no tsunami risk in the area. But you never know!
Adjoining areas of Manila suffered a powerful earthquake in the Philippines on Thursday. The intensity of this earthquake measured approximately 7.2 on the Richter scale, a dangerous measurement. The European Mediterranean Seismic Center (EMSC) said the earthquake struck the ocean at a depth of 122 km. It initially reported intensity of 7.2. This area is considered an earthquake-affected area so they’re expecting a risk of a tsunami hitting here in near future.
In most cases, but not necessarily Earthquakes to a magnitude up to 5 on the Richter scale are lesser dangerous, but it depends on the structure of the area. An earthquake of magnitude 5 is also dangerous if this happens to be on the banks of a river and there are tall buildings built without seismic techniques. If there is an earthquake of magnitude 7 or higher on the Richter scale, the jolt intensifies in the vicinity of 40 km.
But it is all about the seismic frequency, whether it is upward or in scope. It all depends on the frequency of vibration, if it is up then the lower area will be in a dangerous zone.
It simply means at what depth the earthquake activity happened. The greater depth means the earthquake, will affect the lower surface area.
See the earthquake in Indonesia recently there the death toll rose to 91 because of a 6.2 magnitude earthquake in West Sulawesi province. This came to me by several Facebook friends, and also all news agencies were flashing it constantly.
On 14 January, at least 1,172 people injured due to the natural disaster. An agency newsman told in public that 9,910 people forced to flee their homes because of the earthquake. An emergency has been declared in West Sulawesi for 14 days from 15 January. So this is all about earthquakes in this region.
President Joko Widodo recently visited the affected area. The president said that the government buildings the earthquake destroyed would be rebuilt so that public services could resume immediately. The government will also provide financial help for the damaged.
According to officials, in the last 30 days, Indonesia has had three earthquakes of 6.0 or more scale scales, 22 earthquakes between 5.0 and 6.0, 143 tremors between 4.0 and 5.0, 367 tremors between 3.0 and 4.0, and between 2.0 and 24 There have been 247 shocks. People are not feeling normal by constant shaking.
Earlier on 26 September 2019, at least 41 people were killed and the earthquake in Indonesia injured 1,578. Now is it going to be an end of the world by natural disasters and viruses, either natural or man-made?
