Oman is a lovely tourist spot! I never knew that even a place like Oman existed but it is a lush green oasis of palm trees, grasses, flowers in the heart of the classic Arabian Desert.
There is so much that gives your eyes a pleasing feast. Oman with so many picturesque mountains in a dry area and lovely beaches is a wonderful tourist destination.
I never knew that a holiday in the Sultanate of Oman could be such an experience. But it turned out to be a real fun for the entire duration of one week of my stay during my visit to my friend’s place.
Muscat is the picture-perfect capital of Oman and the major attraction in the city is Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, soaked in local culture all around the mosque. Tradition and history at the museum, meander through the mesmerizing lanes and by-lanes of the ancient Muttrah Souk, is something special to admire.
There was this Majestic Al Alam Palace, nestled between the historic Portuguese forts of Jalali and Mirani in the old town. We drove through Hajar Mountains to the historic fort of Nizwa and enjoyed spectacular views of the Grand Canyon from Jabel Shams, the “Mountain of the Sun”
Then there was a great cruise along the coastline where we met friendly dolphins, we missed a giant whale though. We saw the great beautiful beach of Sur where we had lots of fun and visited turtle nesting sites in Ras al-Jinz.
There is so much to watch in Oman, like taking on Oman’s rugged interior or camping under the desert sky and discover the quaint mountain villages of the Jewel Akhdar. The Omani history at the Nakhal Fort, rejuvenate in the famous warm springs of Nakhl village. We can make our way to Wadi Bani Khalid and the undulating dunes of the Wahiba Sands, the great Oman deserts.
I am sure that a tourist to this wonderful and fascinating country of Oman in the Arabian Gulf, whether on an action-packed holiday or a laid-back trip, will always remain in his memory. From Beaches to deserts, Oman has a surprise around every dune.
