The Tale Of A Beautiful Soul

Aphrodite. That's the name that she was given at birth.

Contrary to the goddess whom the name was originated from,

She wasn't born beautiful, nor attractive by any standards.

No, she was ugly. Bad looking even. To the point where her mother almost threw her away the moment she came out from her womb.

-

Life wasn't easy for young Aphrodite.

Mockery and insults were part of her daily life.

Girls would avoid her while the boys would bully her.

She never had anybody on her side.

-

For nights and days, she would hold the pain inside.

Never retaliates nor fights back.

She doesn't understand why are they bothering her.

When all she ever wanted is to live a peaceful life.

-

Day by day, the mistreatment gets worse

From what used to be scorns and slurs

Slowly turned into sticks and stones

And the poor girl just couldn't take it anymore.

-

She wept and wailed to all the gods she knew.

Asking what had she done to deserve all this pain.

Yet the sky kept its silence while the sun withdrew

And there she cried, all alone in the rain.

Aphrodite, oh Aphrodite

She was too kind and naive for this cruel world

Where one would treat another based on their outer shell.

Worship what they consider appealing

And harass the ones they deem unsightly.

-

Aphrodite, poor Aphrodite

She never felt loved nor adored by others

No, they hated and despised her

All because she was born different

To the ideal version that they had in mind.

-

Yet she stayed strong despite everything she’d been through.

She never cursed or wished for revenge on the evil few.

She always tries to forgive, even though she can’t forget.

As she just wants to live, without people seeing her as a threat.

-

Aphrodite only have one person to rely upon

The man whose smile shines brighter than the sun

And words so magical they can make her forget about the bad things.

The only one who stayed with her, when everybody else left.

It was her father, who would always love her no matter what.

-

From him, she learned how to love herself

By closing her ears to the noises and commotions outside

And giving herself the authority to decide

Either to let compassion reside

And sow the seed of kindness inside

Or to let hatred and grudges abide

And leave the wrongdoers satisfied

-

Aphrodite wisely chose to follow her father's path.

To live a life where she'd have to endure more insults

And repay them with kindness instead of wrath.

It's a thorny path that is often avoided even by adults.

-

To the one who mocks her every day

She'd give her best compliments

To the one who throws sticks at her

She'd offer a hand to help whenever needed

-

And slowly, but surely, everybody started to realize

That they're the ugly ones all along

As they've treated her so wrong

Making her life feel so miserable

When they're the ones who are despicable

-

Judging others based on their physical features

And discriminate the ones who fall short of their expectations

Now they've learned about their own ignorance

Only shame and guilt can describe the occurrence

-

And so the tale of Aphrodite reaches its end

May it be read and heard all over the land

So that people can learn and make it a trend

To never discriminate and always befriend

All the creatures in this world we live in.

She is so strong wow.... I think you could relate to her don't you??? and choosing this kind of person is way better in life than choosing someone with a pretty face but uglier insides...that's a nope

It has a sad feeling but i found how strong the main character of this story, she was born different with a pure heart. I would rather choose a person with an ugly appearance but full of beauty inside her soul than a person with a shimmering beauty but has the darkest evil leaving inside..i love the story.

I'm glad you like it.

Honestly, I'd also prefer someone with a kind heart and personality no matter how their external appearance looks, rather than someone beautiful or handsome that will just break our hearts over and over. And Aphrodite is exactly like that :)

I found it a very good read. It's something I've been writing about all these past few days. Outward beauty is not the important one it's what your heart has that gives true beauty to the world. Thank you for sharing your beautiful writing.

Wow.. thank you very much for the kind words. I really agree on the importance of the beauty someone could share with the world. Not just the external shell, but the kindness and love in their own heart.

Aphrodite is fitting for her for she shines from within. This should be a reminder to us all to be kinder to ourselves and to others.

Her name Aphrodite really stands of how beautiful she is. She may not have the attrctive face but she's more beautiful than any other girl out there because of how lovely and beautiful her soul is :>

Sponked, your Aphrodite post is the opposite of living a healthy and happy childhood. Surely Aphrodite did not live an innocent childhood, she had a hard time in life. Interesting tale about the human cruelty of not accepting the human being as unique and uncopied.

Yeah, she really had a tough childhood. She sacrificed a lot eventhough she did no wrong. Humans can be cruel to others.

This is a beautiful piece or poem! It reminds us of the things that are happening around and at times we do them to others or somebody else does them to us.
