Hey friends, I noticed some strange occurrences about the flags of some countries that puzzled me a lot and I feel that I need to share them with you.
In this article, I want to show tell you about some countries that have similar flags. Continue reading to get the gist.
A few weeks ago, the news surfaced that Rolando Brison, a Sint Maarten Member of Parliament, has announced that he wants all his salary to be paid in Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
That was when I first saw the flag of Sint Maarten 🇸🇽, and I was quick to notice the similarities between the flag and the flag of the Philippines 🇵🇭. It took me some serious observations before I realised the difference between the two countries flags.
They share almost the same blue, red and white colours cut into the shapes. However, after some time I learned to accept the fact that the two flags are different due to the presence of their Coat of Arms and change in the position of the colours.
I've always been interested in the news of Bitcoin Adoption coming out of the Caribbean island especially, Venezuela. I usually take special interest in stories of merchants' adoption of Bitcoin Cash in Venezuela.
Whenever I type the name Venezuela on my phone, the country flag that pops up on my screen always makes me double-check my spelling of Venezuela because the Venezuela 🇻🇪 flag resembles the flags of Colombia 🇨🇴, Ecuador 🇪🇨.
I noticed that the three of them are made of yellow, blue, and red horizontal stripes. However, Venezuela and Ecuador have their Coat of Arms on their flags. This makes them a little bit different from the flag of Colombia which has no Coat of Arms.
There are other slite differences in the size of the stripes on these flags. But overall, these flags look so much alike if you are not so used to seeing them.
Recently, I learned that Australia is a thriving hub for Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and cryptocurrency in general. This makes me always want to learn more about Australia 🇦🇺. However, whenever I type the name Australia on my phone, I see a flag that resembles the flag of New Zealand 🇳🇿.
The two flags have the same blue, red and white colours. They both have the Union Jack 🇬🇧 on their upper left corners. They also have stars on them. However, the stars on the Australian flag have white colour and they are six I number. While the flag of New Zealand has four red stars.
Other differences are in the shade of the blues and the shapes of the stars.
I was discussing the above flags with a colleague of mine and he pointed out some other surprisingly similar national flags from around the world. Here they are,
India 🇮🇳 and Niger 🇳🇪
Russia 🇷🇺, Slovenia 🇸🇮, and Slovakia 🇸🇰
Croatia 🇭🇷 and Paraguay 🇵🇾
Indonesia 🇮🇩, Monaco 🇲🇨, and Singapore 🇸🇬
Romania 🇷🇴 and Chad 🇹🇩
The United States 🇺🇸, Malaysia 🇲🇾, and Liberia 🇱🇷
Moldova 🇲🇩 and Andorra 🇦🇩
Hungary 🇭🇺 and Tajikistan 🇹🇯
How many other similar national flags do you know?
Is your country among any of these?
