Are All Plants Green?

When you say plants....only one color comes to our minds. And that is GREEN. But not all plants are green in color. Not all have stems and leaves like what we usually see everyday.

I. myself is not aware too that there are other colors of plants aside from the usual green, which is what I always see since I was a kid. As I grow older, I have seen plants with yellow leaves ( not dried leaves lol ) and orange leaves like San Francisco plant.

And now I have discovered SUCCULENTS. A type of plant which has the ability to survive without water for a long period of time, like almost a week or even a month. I have some succulents under my tender love and care.

my black prince

Black Prince

Just by looking at the photo, you can guess why it is called the Black Prince. It's natural color is black, mine has green in some parts because it has been raining for days now and it needs to be exposed to full sun to achieve its black color. This type of succulents loves to under the sun all day long. If it is placed in a bright shaded area only, it gets etoliated ( stems grow longer than the usual because it is reaching out to where there is sunlight) and it looses its blackness ( just like mine ). It only needs to be watered once a week or until the soil is dry already.

purple delight

Purple Delight

This may look like a flower to you but it's not. Those pinkish petal-like things are the leaves. When exposed to full sunlight, these leaves turns into dark pink almost purple in color. Same as the black prince, just water the plant when the soil is dry. You can propagate this by getting the healthy bottom leaves and placing them on top of some soil in a pot or tray, leave them in a bright shaded area ( no direct sunlight ) and wait for them to show some roots or leaves.

This one has green leaves with pink linings. It is same as mother of thousands or mother of millions. On these leaves, small pink leaves grow on the side. When these grow big enough or when it has already grown some roots, you can harvest them and place them in a pot, wait for them to grow at least 2 inches in height before transferring to separate pots.

choco moonstone

Choco Moonstone

Just like its name, the leaves are brown like chocolate. When sun-stressed, the leaves turn into dark brown, so beautiful to look at, with its chubby leaves, making you want to get and eat some hahaha They say that if you want to make the leaves more fat and round, use bottom watering method. Meaning you have put some water in a basin then place the pot in there for at least 10 minutes or until the top soil gets wet. But just like the others, water them only when the soil is already dry.

Well that is all for now. Next time I'm gonna show you my cactus. I need to do some research on their names coz I'm not familiar with them, this is the first time with cactus.

So until my next article, bye for now. Keep safe guys.

Editor's note : all photos are mine ( and so are the plants 😁 )
