Poverty and Wealth.. The Very Big Differences In Our Society

I admit that I grew up in poverty. We were raised by our parents by their hard work. They don't have a stable job and we only rented house from time to time. But the good thing was that my parents raised us well and gave us the right to education.

Many people in the world are experiencing poverty due to different factors and it includes overpopulation and unenployment.

I have seen our life into many struggles.

When we have long lists of debts to our neighbor who has "sari-sari store" and where to get the food everyday.

There were changes in our lives and I thank God for that.

My Poverty

When I started working, that was when I realized the value of money. I have to work 13 days to earn a little amount of salary before for my family. 13 days of hard work with overtime pay. I was starting then so my salary is too small.

Everytime I finished my contract from my previous jobs, I applied hurriedly to other companies because I don't want to be jobless for a long period of time.

Education

If you don't have enough money for the education of your children in a private or exclusive school, you can enroll them to a public school but you will see the difference in learning.

In a private school, only limited students are allowed inside the classrooms which means teachers can focused on all students.

They have great and clean facilities for the students. The school buildings are new and renovated. Their topics or lessons are advance compared to public schools.

While in a public school, crowded students can fill up the classroom. The facilities are old and the topics were not advance.

They have the same amount of education but in different ways.

Employment

Once we graduated, it is time for job application.

In every job application I encounteed, I saw how hard it is to be poor. Some companies discriminates the school where you graduated. They prioritize those who came from the "known" schools.

If you came from a prominent school, you will be noticed first by the interviewer because of the school you've been. So if there were multiple applicants from different schools, school matters to "some".

You also need money for the transportation and the patience to wait for the interviewer. Then you have to prepare for the requirements which also needs money to prepare.

You also needed the medical examination and wait for the result. The process were hard and expensive before you got the job. If you don't have the budget for the application, then it is hard to get the job.

Justice

I can say that nowadays, if you have the money, you are powerful. Powerful to control the law.

I mentioned this from my previous article the difference between rich and the poor in terms of justice.

If you are rich and powerful and you committed a crime, you have a great chance not to be convicted. Your money says it all.

But if you are poor and you committed a sin, you have a chance to be convicted. You need to have enough money to get a good lawyer for you to win the case.

Everyday Lives

Its hard to survive nowadays especially this pandemic. Even those people who are wealthy and owns business suffered bankruptcy due to lockdown.

If wealthy people suffered, what more to those in need?

If wealthy people can eat three or four times a day, poor people don't know where to get everydays meal. They have to work daily to meet daily needs.

What more for the monthly bills to pay?

Shelter

We can see the difference in terms of shelter between the wealthy and poor .

If you aee poor, you only rented or some doesn't have shelter at all. They lived along the streets.

Some owns the house but only in a limited space.

Some are crowded and living in a squatters area.

While the rich one, lived in a private village in big houses or some lived in beautiful condominiums.

Medical Needs

Its hard to get sick nowadays. We all need to be healthy for our family.

If we got sick, we need to pay everything including the room, the doctors fee and the medicines we needed.

It's hard to afford all those if we are poor.

Some hospitals needed admission fee before they can accept the patient..

Also, if the patient has already recovered but not yet paid with the bills, they are not allowed to be released yet. What if you are poor and you dom't have money to pay?

Your bills will get higher until you have money to pay them.

Only the rich people can afford them.

We can see the big difference between the rich and the poor. But no matter what our status in life is, we need to continue working and also save for the future. Life is like a wheel. Sometines you're up and sometimes you're down but we should not give up.
