After knowing that my late mother resulted positive from her swab test, we undergo quarantine for 14 days at home. , It was ok for me to be on quarantine if my mother was alive but knowing she turned positive and did not survived, it was very painful but we need to follow.

Swab Testing

Every person who has the symptoms for covid 19 should undergo swab testing. My mother was considered PUI or Person Under lnvestigation because she has on and off fever, cough, and difficulty in breathing.

Before doing the process, we need to fill up the form clearly starting from the patients full name, address and email address. They will be sending the result throuh the email address you provided so it should be clear including the address. Then they will call the barangay where you reside to inform them if a resident has covid.

The process is done two-way by the use of 2 long cotton buds:

Which will be inserted into the nosetrils up to the lungs.

Which will be inserted into the mouth up to the lungs.

I learned it all from my brother who worked in the hospital.

The Day-to-Day Routine

The following days were those days that we do noting but to sit and eat and talk with each other since we need to be home only, we cannot go to work and just watched for any symptoms.

April 28

The 1st day of the quarantine. It was a sad morning because my mother is no longer with us. But we tried to feel normal because my sister and her children and my brother and his wife and his 2 children came to our house for a quarantine. It was not actually a quarantine for them because they can still go out from their house in the morning and go home in the evening. But for me and my son, my father and my youngest brother are just in the house. It was a noisy and crowded morning in the house. There were foods given by my cousins through online delivery, relief good from the barangay including rice, canned goods and noodles and vegetables and other meat products from the neighbors. We truly appreciate their help.

Our sari-sari store was also closed during quarantine. It is only covered with big boxes that were folded so we can still see outside. We usually stay at the store because there is much air there compared inside. We can still see the people outside. Since they knew what happened, some were looking at us. I don't know if they were looking because they want to sympathize with us or they were scared of us since someone got positive in the family.

Since we are in quarantine period, we only ask from the neighbors if they can buy somehing for us that we don't have.

Since the barangay knew about getting covid in our family, a representative from thr Local Government Unit (LGU) called us to have an everyday monitoring of our health. We have a group chat created in Messenger for all of us doing the quarantine. The LGU represemtative sent a template which we will answer twice a day in the morning and evening .

We will check our temperature, answer yes or no if we are experiencing symptoms like cough, colds, flu, sore throat etc.

We didn't notice the time because it was so fast that we were just talking to each other, texting, using mobile phones for internet and my son and my nieces and nephews were playing.

I hate when its night. It seemed very sad because my sister and my brother will go home to sleep and will come back early morning. Good thing that my brother's children will sleep with us every night to accompany us since it will be sad if only the 4 of us will sleep inside.

April 29

2nd day of quarantine. The same routine as the first day. They all came very early and we all ate breakfast together. It was happy because that was the first time we gather together. But it would be much happier if my mother was with us. We only have done taking breakfast together when my mother was gone which was so sad.

There were continuous foods and money from the relatives and friends. It goes to show how they love my mother.

We also planned to have a prayer offering for my mom. The member of the pastoral in our subdivision held a 9-day prayer for my mother. We also watch online mass.

Actually, my neighbors and relatives were all surprised with the sudden death of my mother. But we all have to accept it. I trust the Lord that he will strengthen me and my family everyday.

April 30

The 3rd day. It seemed fast. i was on leave from April 27 up to this day. I need to go back to work on Monday.

The same old routine. Another food supply from the barangay. We also received groceries from my auntie. It actually feels boring doing the same old thing but it was normal for me since I don't go outside unless I have to buy something outside.

May 1 and 2

The 4th and 5th day and the 1st Saturday and Sunday without my mom. The same routine. We have a lot of meats and foods in the fridge. We cooked chicken, pork and fish for all of us given by neighbors. I will go back to work the next day even my mind doesn't want to. I have a normal sleep when I was on leave.

May 3

It was the 6th day and I woke up early. I was so sad thinking I need to go workback to work tonight. My sisters and brothers came early. Same routine. But this time, they watched netflix and youtube videos. Good thing I was writing articles. Writing and reading helps me during quarantine. I just need to think a lot of ideas for me to write more. The time was so fast and when its about to turn 9pm, I set up my computer for my work. When it was 9pm, I started working. When I opened my Skype, someone already greeted me. I can't help but cried with the message. I remember my mother again though I don't forget her. Its just that I remember the pain again. But then, I continue to work. I have a lot of things to do.

May 4-6

7th, 8th and 9th day of the quarantine. Those 3 days of the same morning to evening routine for all of us. 3 working busy days for me.

May 7

10th day and its Friday. It was the last day of work so i'm excited to go on rest days. But we received a call from my nephews friend who worked in the barangay office that they received a call from a concerned cotizen in our village that someone from us went out of the house to buy barbeque which is in front of us only. So the barangay staff said that there should be proof. They should take picture from us for actions to be taken. We take extra care so we told our brother to minimize opening the gate and just go back to their house when its already dark.

May 8 & 9

Its already the 11th and 12th day. They were all excited to go out finally. The usual routine. Its the weekend so I don't have work. I just spent time with my family.

May 10

This is considered the last day of quarantine. 14th day is no longer counted. Tomorrow is the day we can go out.

May 11

We already open our store. It feels like we're still in quarantine but we can now go out. My brothers can't still go to work because they don't have clearance yet from LGU. No need for swab since we don't encounter any symptoms from our quarantine period.

Final Say

This pandemic caused a lot of depression and anxiety to all. It still a good thing that we bond together and no one was isolated. I just can't believe that my mother was gone too fast. She is now in heaven and free from pain.

Let us all take care of our health. Health is wealth. The virus is everywhere so we need to follow rules.
