In the United Kingdom, security agencies have taken done EncroChat's servers operation to be the secure communication network for Highlevel gangs. As a result, 746 people were arrested. Cash of £54 million, 77 weapons and tons of drugs were taken.
Since 2016, Encrochat and many other encrypted messaging channels used among perpetrators has been targeted by law enforcement agencies.
Criminals assumed that their messages were safe. However, NCA and Europol had already infiltrated the Encrochat network by installing malware to enable them to read their communication for months.
NCA Director of Investigation Nikki Holland said that this is UK's biggest and most extensive investigation in serious organized crime has ever been. The EncroChat servers were now shut down and criminals were encouraged to toss their microphone away.
This was like getting an informant in any highly organized crime organization in the world.
