Will the Comet Apophis Strike Earth? You Decide

I like studying astronomy and watching the heavens at night sometimes. Also, I have been studying the Comet Apophis for over a month now and it is moving towards Earth and could strike us as early as 2029. I'm not convinced of that yet, but I did find some interesting coincidences (or are they?) during my own research.

First of all, I follow a few websites that track Near Earth Objects (NEOs). Apophis is one of them, probably the most interesting and potentially dangerous one of all.

The name Apophis means evil serpent. Satan is referred to that as well. It was discovered in 2004, and astronomers and scientists have been tracking it ever since.

Apophis is approaching Earth and is expected to pass nearby on (get this), Friday, April 13, 2029.

Apophis is shaped like a huge peanut. It is approximately 340 meters wide, and it was given the number 99942 by scientists.

Conspiracy theorists and some sky watchers flip the numbers upside down and refer to it as 66624. This correlates to the 666 of the book of Revelation (the Mark of the Beast) and Matthew chapter 24, where Jesus warns us of the end times. Both Bible books contain prophecy, as does the book of Daniel and several more.

Apophis is picking up speed, and it is changing its trajectory. Some believe it is the "star falling to the earth" in Revelation chapter 8 (the Trumpet judgments), and though possible, it is unlikely.

Interestingly enough, my studies indicate that the ancient Egyptians saw it as a bad omen that constantly attacked their sun god Ra. Those old Egyptians were an interesting people! They got a lot of things right (perfect pyramids for one thing).

Additionally, in apocalyptic literature it is linked to earthquakes, thunder, darkness, storms and earth, very much like the description in Revelation chapter 8.

I am not a prophet. I won't predict that Apophis is going to hit Earth. Instead, I just found all the numbers to be really interesting. Also, since the event will be able to be seen with just your eyes in 2029, it is simply fascinating to think about.

If Apophis misses us in 2029, it has two more chances to do so, in 2036, and then the huge asteroid has a probability of impacting Earth in the year 2068.
