Backster Effect... Plants Don't Lie, Plants Feel Stronger.. In 1966, America's well-known polygraph expert Cleve Backster spent another sleepless night at his school, where he taught security guards to use the polygraph device. Then, just for fun, he placed the polygraph electrodes on top of his tropical plant with huge leaves. Since the polygraph measures the electrical changes of various states such as fear, joy, surprise, he laughed sarcastically, perhaps the plant is also happy when water is poured. As he watered the plant, the galvanometer zigzagged downward. But an upward movement was waiting for Backster. He didn't get the reaction he expected when he put his leaf in hot coffee, either. Everything changed when he finally thought of picking up the match and lighting the plant. The plant frantically raised the needle of the galvanometer. Backster couldn't believe it. "How so?" he said to himself, "Did the plant read my thoughts?" A new world was opening up in front of human history. Experiments chased experiments. It turns out that plants not only read thoughts, but also sense everything around them. The plants also felt the death of the shrimps thrown into the boiling water and the pain felt when a needle pricked their hands. He could even feel the joys and sorrows experienced even when he was miles away. He even fainted from fear. All the plants fell silent when a botanist lady from out of town came in one day. There was no response from any of them. It was as if they had all fallen into silence. After all, 45 minutes after that lady got on the plane from the airport and left, they started to react again. When he learned that the female botanist had dried the plants and made the measurements, Backster realized that the plants had fainted with fear when he saw her. He devised an experiment. He gave different tasks to 6 assistants to do at the same time on the same night. One of the tasks was to come in at midnight and uproot one of the plants in the lab. The next day, when the helper who shredded the herb walked in, all the plants started screaming like crazy, that's what Backster calls the peaking of the galvanometer needles. From this experiment it became clear that plants not only feel, they also have memories. And in the United States, the testimony of plants began to be used in some judicial cases. Plants never gave wrong results because they didn't know what a lie was. When these studies started to be published as articles, scientists from all over the world started working on the subject. The results are mind-blowing. A plucked leaf can stay alive for months longer than a normal leaf if nice words are said to it. He can feel pain and joy at a distance of 120 km. He can read people's thoughts and record evildoers in his memory. It also shares this information with other plants. He even commits suicide from the misery of the ill-treated plant. If the plant next to it is dehydrated, it shares its own water with it. Plants have a sensitivity beyond our imaginations in communicating with all living things. Each one is a part of nature. Maybe one day, if we have the opportunity to understand them better, they can even tell us all the experiences of history.
