3:35 A.M. Monday 19 December 2022 Somewhere in southeastern Illinois USA Currently -8 degrees out with a high of one degree (Celsius) expected today (for the Fahrenheit crew that is currently 19 with a high of 34.) Damn heater went BOOM! last night just as I was falling asleep. Faulty pilot ignition sometimes allows gas to build up before the burners ignite and so there is a miniature natural gas explosion when it does it - used to do it 3-4 times each winter but didn't do it a single time last year. And then, as well as not wanting to fire up, the thermostat has 'stuck' a few times this winter and it keeps running and running until I notice it and give it a good smack. Poor thing is 52 years old, I should probably replace it with a newer digital model - more accurate and save me some money in the long run. And no - the photo has nothing to do with anything I talked about, but I like this snap I took of the phonograph cartridge/stylus assembly while listening to the Jimi Hendrix album 'Band Of Gypsys' yesterday afternoon.

My favorite was "Machine gun" what a vibe! 🙌
I'm extremely fond of the opening track on the album ('Who knows'). 'Machine Gun' is right after it and Jimi really gets some fantastic sounds out of his Strat.
But the heater is still working, or do you have to sit in the cold now?
Oh, it works, I just hope it doesn't actually blow up. Last night was equivalent to a firecracker going off inside the house.
Frightening. Then maybe you should get a new device or it needs to be readjusted.
It needs a new furnace, but that is something I simply can't afford.
Damn. A cheaper "upgrade" of the old one is not possible?
Nope. It's old-old. I did however replace the thermostat this afternoon so it won't get stuck and keep running and running.
A first step. Hope you will stay safe in your house. And sorry for the ate reply, it was a busy day.
