One of my online friends said they thought they saw a murder hornet. I told them it was probably just a contract-killer wasp. Ba-dum tish! But yes that did just happen. But that triggered an earlier thought I had today...where are the cicada hawks? ---ATTENTION PLEASE. THE PHOTO IS NOT MINE. IT IS FOR ILLUSTRATION PURPOSES ONLY AND CAME FROM http://capitalnaturalist.blogspot.com/2016/07/cicada-killers-or-cicada-hawks.html --- I was out in the yard earlier and realized I had not seen any of these monsters yet this year, but with all the cicadas screaming bloody murder there should be some soon. I hope. What they do is they sting a cicada, which paralyzes it, and then drag it back to their burrow and lay their eggs and BOOM!!! there's breakfast for the larvae. But paralyzed means they can't scream. PLEASE PLEASE come soon. lol
