So I was cleaning out the external storage room here at the house and found this abandoned bird nest built in an empty box. I guess the door was left open for a bit (which I had done because the door is screwy) and my Dad shut the door on one of his visits so the bird(s) couldn't get back to the nest.

There we have it. Life is shit sometimes. Sad story. Our little birds in the garden haven been taken be the cat. Not a birds year.
I had to raise one of my bird feeders a bit higher. I thought I had it high enough the cats could not reach it, BUT one of the cats realized the birds don't go straight up when they leave the feeder but hop off and THEN spread their wings to fly...and she could leap high enough to catch a bird when it did the little dip as it jumped off. ;-(
Clever cat or good instinct. Yes, I have observed that too, many birds drop a little bit first. That's really annoying.
I'd seen her outside a few times sitting under the feeder intently watching it and I thought "Well, she can't reach it so it's okay" but then I caught on to what was happening.
And I guess nobody really knows how high they can jump when they are hungry. You have to put some spikes below the feeder ^^
So nice, birds doing too hard work for building their nest House for laying eggs, Seems their hard work fulfilled for them and birds should found their eggs again.
That's sad. If you haven't given the eggs to the cat yet you could take the box outside. Maybe they'd come around.
Oh cool. When I went to scouts we had a perfectly preserved rat in childbirth it got stuck in a locker.
