  I attended a remembrance and celebration of life service on Thursday. My friend survived COVID-19 and several heart attacks. But his number was finally called. He was 97 years old. I met him when he was about 87. He was a humble man and I talked to him often as if we had been friends for much longer. He was a fighter pilot who served in 3 wars. He was the first and only brigadier general that I've ever known. If all the living generals are like him then this country is in good hands. This weekend for me is kind of sobering and somber, as I am missing a good friend.
