*****WARNING - RANT AHEAD***** It is a royal pain-in-the-ass to be a vinyl record aficionado (for those that are not familiar with the word, that is a snooty way of saying I am a bit knowledgeable and enthusiastic about them. I just wanted to use at least one 50-cent word today). I've been a music lover and record collector all my long life. So when I hear about this resale shop in town having records, I went there fully intending to buy something. NOPE. I had 8 of them I was getting ready to buy...I asked how much for the ones that had no price listed on them. The guy said "Oh, I haven't priced those yet." But you have them sitting out for sale??? So I asked where did he get prices, and he told me "I get from from looking at eBay and then charging what they charge for it." Well...I knew that to be a lie. One album I had looked at (and then put back down) was marked at $40. Same exact thing is on eBay for $16. So I just put what I was carrying on the counter and walked out. And I'll spread the word that the guy is extremely overpriced and not worth buying from. He puts stuff out on his shelves for sale, doesn't price it, and then wants to set a price at the register? And I know he charges 2 or 3 times what it is worth? And when people do this with vinyl records I REALLY get mad, because I've collected them for 45 years. I know what they are worth. And I've seen too many people that think the scratched up Elvis Presley record with the cat pee stain on the cover is worth $50 when it is not worth 50 cents. (takes a deep breath) Sorry, just a personal peeve of mine. (This is about two-thirds of my album collection)
