Well, the cat in my avatar is dead and noise.app is dead but what is this deviltry?
@Scarred4Lyfe in August 2026
@shohana. :-) I do not care you gave me a -100 trust rating, even though we have not interacted on this platform. I gave the same right back. Have a great day!
Not much out there this early in the day...
Good morning? Good afternoon? Good evening? Good night? Or is it something else entirely? Or is it perhaps bad? I don't know. I'm just debating a second cup of coughee. ☕ So far it is winning the debate. Hello all from my Universe...
I was this morning years old when I realized this type of fan cage is made of one long wire. Don't ask me why I had always thought it was several wire circles of different sizes tacked onto a framework. But there I was. And now I am no longer there. I am here.
Okay now if I get lost I can check here to see where I am at!
My very first job (at the age of 14) was as a busboy at a private club, and it taught me I needed to practice my sneaking skills because the half-full wine bottles I thought I snuck outside without anyone seeing were gone when my shift was over...
Can you imagine looking up in the sky in the middle of the day and seeing this with your naked eyes? April 8, 2024 I witnessed a total solar eclipse from my yard, likely one of the most interesting natural sights I have seen. And research ahead of time taught me that when the sun goes into totality, you can look at the eclipse without damaging your eyes. I really wanted to post video of it, but alas it seems it is not allowed here.
No tidying involved lol
Well, I can tip BCH now, found an old wallet with about $7.50 in BCH sitting in it and connected it here. I guess it will show that (BCH) as a tipping option for people with wallets connected.
Not really my 'pet', 'Jerry' is a half-wild feral that began showing up to eat about a month ago. I caught him in a live trap last Friday and he got to visit a vet (which he hated) and he was neutered (which he hated) and given a rabies vaccination and a combo vaccination to protect against respiratory infections and feline parvovirus (which he wasn't happy about). And of course when I brought him home and released him Saturday morning after letting him recuperate overnight…
Look at all of those records! Actually, this is a small collection, maybe 800 or so albums. I used to have a bit over 2300 but decided a few years ago that I was done being a 'collector' and was just going to be what I used to be - a listener that prefers vinyl. So I sold off about 2/3 of what I had and kept the ones that were likely to get played the most. Too bad we don't have video here, I'd show you how good my system sounds.
Well since I ain't got no teeth I could secretly eat baby food but nope I do not and being diabetic my menu is rather limited these days so I cain't rightly recollect anything that would fit in that category.
So I am guessing this is more like Noise than the old Read site. While I was a member here (so I could pass out tips to articles I liked) I never did any article writing - my longer, more thought-out pieces of writing are a few years behind me now. But shorter, chat-driven material? I think I may have a few thoughts left in this old-man brain. So we'll just hang out and see how things progress... Oh...hello everyone!
For about 15 minutes there was a poster of Alice Cooper from the 1971 album 'Killer' which was a photo of him 'h***ing' himself (stage theatrics) and then my Mom saw it and made me take it down (I was 13). And read.cash will not allow me to post an image of it so I guess Google 'alice cooper Killer calendar poster' if you want to see what it was.
I prophesize that once people find out they will no longer get BCH (from the site) for posting and that KT cannot be exchanged for cash that the majority - who are mainly here for 'free money' - won't be around long. But I automatically expect the worst from people - maybe I'll get surprised for once (though I rather doubt it). Still, nice to 'bump' into some of you, been a minute or two since last we met...
Albino squirrels. We (Olney IL) are known as 'The Home of the White Squirrels'. I've seen as many as three at the same time in my front yard (which is where this photo is from). Born here 66 years ago and I forget most people have never seen a true albino squirrel.
This is an Orchard Orbweaver, a very small (5-7 mm body length) harmless spider that builds it orbs horizontally instead of vertically. The web it had built was in the passenger side of my vehicle and I was able to take several shots until I got the one I wanted. (photo taken in June 2020)
My time, your time, or Universal time? Usually around 23:00 UTC which translates to 6 PM my time - but I get up at 2 AM my time or around 7:00 UTC. Usually the only thing that keeps me awake is pain.
So - unfortunately - be careful about clicking links here. I went to look at a 'comprehensive review' posted here and now I am battling some kind of virus
Queen of the house Emoci (em-oh-see) in full 'Chonk' display. What she lacks in size (she is only about 3/4 the size of an average cat) she more than makes up for in Chonkability™. She is almost 7 years old now, she came here as a stray in April 2020 and was probably 6 months old at that time, so she was born in late 2019. She didn't start putting on serious weight until she went missing for an 8-day period about a year after she appeared, and since her return she has acted…
Well I tried explaining to Emoci I needed a photo of her doing nothing special and SHE said she is ALWAYS special so...
PT sez I posted a photo of Jerry and I have posted photos of Emoci and PT wants HIS photo here too...
Emoci is a wise kitty
I have a few normalstitions - like if I spill the soup I toss a cat over my left shoulder, and I will not have sex during a total solar eclipse because it'll make you go blind - but I can't think of any superstitions I still follow.
Moonshots I live in a house surrounded by trees where 90% of the sky view is obscured by them, so I often find myself taking full-moon shots through thickets of branches above me. The first photo is January 31 of this year, the second and third are from February 1 of this year.
Oh lordy... Flashback summer 1986, living just outside of Dallas Texas (Balch Springs) with my uncle and his wife. Bill delivered the Dallas Morning News (paper) and I helped him on his route. We'd drive down the street in his pickup with the back widow slid open to reach the papers in the bed of the truck and toss 'em over the cab, left to right and right to left - and I did not hear one of my papers 'plop' in the yard so I told Bill to stop the truck and l got out and sure…
Suppertime with Jerry. He still won't let me touch him, but I think it won't be much longer, he's getting accustomed to me.
Evolution my a**. Why did a bat evolve these teeth for eating insects? Those are the teeth of a freakin' carnivore. But this a Little Brown Bat, and they feed on insects. I guess maybe they evolved teeth like this as a defense. I just wish PT would not bring them home. Especially while they are still alive...
Ketchup on bananas. Naw, I don't know,. I don't have a very varied diet these days.
God hates Vegetarians and it has been historically documented that Vegetarianism leads to MURDER. Just read a Bible. "Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a worker of the ground. In the course of time Cain brought to the Lord an offering of the fruit of the ground, and Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions. And the Lord had regard for Abel and his offering, but for Cain and his offering he had no regard." Now...God had no regard for a…
Air.
Do you mean the street that is more ordinary than most? Do you perhaps mean that street which is so ordinary that it is EXTRAordinary? (I've never understood how 'extraordinary' means 'special' instead of what it actually says) Okay, it is 5 in the morning and here is the rather ordinary street I live on. The only famous thing about it is I live on it. lol
The people in the television could see me in my living room.
This morning is the first time Jerry has dared to come in the doorway since I trapped him to have him neutered a few weeks ago. HUGE step forward towards rehabilitating him to people.
Please. Because it either no longer exists in English or people have forgotten how to use it.
I'm retired now, but I worked unsupervised for a company and people thought that meant I did not have any real responsibilities.
If I could see better I likely would not be such an easily irritated old fart. As it is the sight in my right eye is very blurry, and I am missing about a third of the vision (occluded by a dark shadow) in my left eye. My left and right eye fight each other trying to focus with my left convinced it needs to focus on a shadow 3 inches in front of my face. Doesn't take long on a computer screen to develop a headache from it.
♫ Remember when you were young You shone like the sun Shine on you crazy diamond ♫ 'Shine On Your Crazy Diamond' from the Pink Floyd album 'Wish You Were Here'
Midweek midday crisis - averted. I can hear the drone of the cicadas coming in through the open door leading from the kitchen out to the side/backyard. Very reminiscent of the sound my ultrasonic vinyl record cleaner makes. And in a few weeks they will be gone, silenced for another year by approaching winter. Although the COLD cold won't arrive for another 3½ - 4 months. I was going to post a zoomed-in shot of Emoci asleep but evidently the photo filter thinks I am trying to…
I always get out of bed on the wrong side on purpose, that way I don't waste any time getting aggravated with people because I am already pre-aggravated and that frees me to tell people exactly how I feel about them, and that is why I have no friends.
I am happy to report I just took a test hit of my Maryjewwanna and it did not go bad overnight as I was sleeping...it has never happened before but it is always a possibility... I was so glad Illinois legalized recreation weed smoking just in time for the 2020 Covid lockdowns. Good morning/day/afternoon/evening/night to all. exhales
You won't see these very often these days. This is an antique mainline telegraph sounder that once was used by my grandfather when he was a telegrapher for the Illinois Central Railroad long long ago. It came to me via my father when he died (2021), who in turn had gotten it from his dad (my grandfather) when he had passed away (1977). No way to check its actual age (no serial numbers) but from the mid-20th century.
Oh I went WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY over that line. I was expelled from school in December of my sophomore/10th year. Mikey did not play well with others. I also have other assorted warts and blemishes. :-)
I do not have a problem with AI per se. I'm sure there are many instances where AI can improve things, but there are places AI does not belong. Most notably in the creative arts. It goes like this: if you use AI to make a song or to create artwork or to write a book etc etc then you are actually not creating anything and have no right to say you 'made' anything. AI created that, not you. "Oh, but I told it what to do." If you told Michelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel and…
'Jerry' watching me from just outside of the back door. He is signifying to me that he would like a bite to eat if I perchance would happen to have anything that he might find agreeable to chowing down on. And like a good Cat Dad I went and located something appropriate and placed it in a bowl near the door and then backed away so that he could come in to eat. He is still refusing any actual contact between us, but the trust is beginning to blossom.
Every once in a bit I order me a pizza that I sweardagod hadda been built by someone that went to college for 8 years studying pizza-building. I got one of those today. Perfectly proportioned ingredients perfectly distributed, perfect cheesiness, from HERE to HERE with just a hint of crust showing on the edges...baked to a perfection. Just exactly what I wanted when I placed my order. Unfortunately this only happens about 3 times every 5 years. Guess it is hard to keep…
After 66 years of cooking, basically everything is made on autopilot. I only use recipes when I am baking things like pies and cakes etc. or trying a new dish for the first time - and that hasn't happened really in the past 20 years... I put about as much thought into everyday cooking as I do into - oops better not say that - um, doing the laundry.
@TheMage made me do it Sunday morning tunes with my coughee The Cult - Electric (1987) I'm a Vinyl Junkie™ but I come by it honestly by birth, not by coolness factor. I was spinning this record in 1987 when it was released. Heck, I got my first record player in 1964.
A lot of people might think 3:30 AM is too early to take a hit of weed. A lot of people might think smoking weed at any time is wrong. However, both of those groups of people are wrong. REMEMBER: I do not agree with violating local laws. They throw you in prison for that. They threw me in prison for that when weed was illegal here. But it is no longer illegal here (Illinois USA). And I keep strange hours, I have been up for 2½ hours now. I drank my first mug of coughee. Now…
I am still a relative novice to this entire chicken breasts cooked in an air fryer thing - this is my third effort - but wow, I'm quickly becoming a convert. And to think I almost at one point got rid of the air fryer...then I figured out how to fry stuff other than air.
Brutal heat today but it did not stop me from an 80 mile/128 km trip to pick up a fresh ounce. No a/c in the SUV and did I say it was hot? Exceedingly sunny and 103 F/39 C. Trip left me almost as sticky as the buds I bought...
