Baby raccoons are such cute little things. This one isn't much bigger than a 6-month old kitten. It does NOT like the sound of my voice though - as soon as I said "Hi there" it ran off and climbed up a tree.

Baby raccoon out front early this morning approximately 4 AM local time. (USA Central zone) Hasn't been living on its own for very long because it still hasn't learned how to come down a tree properly, it almost fell a few times because it wanted to go nose first. It isn't very big, that is just an average size ear of corn and the 'coon isn't much bigger than the corn. #Raccoons #wildlife

Just had a storm system moved through here dropping marble sized and bigger hail and took a tree down across the street and I have limbs down all over my yard and the cats are not happy.

I ended up being without power for 8½ hours from yesterday's storm. I took a shot of the downed tree across the road while it was still storming and got several pieces of hail in the shot.

2:30 this morning saw a pair of large raccoon out at the feeding tree. The bigger one wouldn't come completely out from behind the tree so I could get a shot showing how fat it is, and then a dog barking in the neighborhood scared them both away.

The Littlest Raccoon was back again this morning around 3:30. Unlike the first time I saw it (3-4 days ago) I was able to go outside and set up the camera on the porch without it freaking out and running up the tree. I'm posting a photo of the three adults that were here yesterday just for a size comparison. Two of my cats were keeping a close eye on a young hawk that was trying to catch a squirrel for lunch. The squirrel escaped into a culvert under a driveway and the hawk stuck around for a minute or two waiting to see if it would come back out. No big deal to people that live in large cities, but I live in a town of slightly over 8,000 people and we only get a shooting/killing once every year or two. Female Eastern Box Turtle Olney Illinois USA Five days after seeing a male crossing the ditch in my front yard, this female was in my flower bed to the right side of my porch this morning. I'd looked out to see what my cats were doing and the 'Queen' of my herd was intently watching this. (As a general rule with this specific type of turtle, the males have red/orange eyes and the females have brown eyes)

Between 9:30 AM yesterday when I 'emptied' out my tips and 5:30 PM (8 hours) I received 17 cents to pass out, and between then and 3:30 this morning (10 hours) I received 8 cents to pass out. So if you notice me not tipping, it is because I've received 25 cents to hand out in the past 18 hours.

Interesting day. Met a couple of couches, but more about that later, Today August 15th 2022 finalizes the distribution of my father's estate between 7 siblings. The money is all divided evenly, I paid my 4 sisters and 2 brothers $1500 each and I walked away with the house, property, and $17,600 cash. This is NOT what you want to see your cat catching. I just took this live bat away from one of my cats (Petey) and disposed of it. Bats are highly known to be carriers of rabies, as well as being able to leave a nasty bite. And I wish I understood why this 'God' guy thought something that feeds on insects needed teeth like these...

I wasn't doing anything really, just minding my own business. I'd decided to see how good the Canon Rebel 6 was at shooting video of the moon so I walked to a clear line of sight and set up the tripod and set the focus and started shooting video. Meanwhile, a few meters behind me, a couple of 'neighbors' came to see what was going on... I still can't believe how many dollar bills I had to hand over to buy a new couch. Tonight I am going to my first major show since August 2019. The venue has a capacity of 20,000 (outdoor amphitheater) and I've watched this artist perform there at least 6 times previously over the last 12 years and he always draws at least 15,000. Sunday afternoon with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik' is a double-album set, with both albums being red. 'Californication' also consists of two records, one yellow and one purple. The blue 'needle' is an Ortofon 2M Blue which is a mid-priced ($239.00) audiophile cartridge. Needless to say, I am REALLY careful playing albums, I can't afford to replace it more than once every couple of years.
