Good Morning Everyone! Charlie and I are changing the underplanting of our front gardens because now that the roses and trees have grown, they give more shade than what our sun-loving plants require. Years ago, when we planted two of our gardens by the phases of the moon, these plants seemed to take a magic pill and grew so quickly that we've decided to do this again. I also call in each plant's Nature Diva or Fairy to bless the plant, tend to it's care and nurture it with love. We've already prepared the soil and the plants have been bought. We are ready! “Moon gardening is simply learning to garden according to the moon’s phases i.e. sowing and harvesting in harmony with the flow of moisture as it is drawn up the plant into the stem and leaves, fruit and seeds or down into the root zone with the gravitational pull of the moon.” – Anne Gibson To plant by the Moon: Annual flowers and fruit and vegetables that bear crops above ground (e.g. corn, tomatoes, watermelon, zucchini) Waxing of the Moon—from the day the Moon is new to the day it is full. As the moonlight increases night by night, plants are encouraged to grow leaves and stems. Flowering bulbs, biennial and perennial flowers, and vegetables that bear crops below ground (e.g. onions, carrots, potatoes) Waning of the Moon—from the day after it is full to the day before it is new again. As the moonlight decreases night by night, plants are encouraged to grow roots, tubers, and bulbs. Moon Gardening Benefits: * Seeds definitely germinate sooner and root vegetables and bulbs also shoot more quickly. * Plants grow faster, are healthier, larger and more robust. * Plants produce higher yields. * Plants have less pests because they are stronger. So, that's my tip for today. You can research more on-line, purchase a Moon Gardening Calendar and/or follow additional detail by knowing and understanding the Astrological sign for each month's moon phase but I'm no full bottle on that! Mine is simple and when combined with calling upon the Plant Diva for each plant we are putting into the ground, we achieve amazing results.
