Cyclone Citrang
25th October, Tuesday, 2022
From October 20th, news channels were giving advance warning about Cyclone Citrang. I didn't pay that much attention though, because I thought Citrang would be less strong like other weak storms.
On 23rd October 2022, our physical chemistry sir messaged everyone on facebook messenger that the first lab class will be held tomorrow.
On October 24, 2022, about 20 of us left for the lab class in the morning. But after leaving in the morning, I realized that today's lab class was very risky for us. It has been raining heavily since morning, so take an umbrella when leaving the house in the morning. I was half soaked by the time I reached the highway from home, so you can understand how hard it was raining. Then some of us got in an autorickshaw and left for the university. On reaching the varsity I got almost 70 percent wet inside the auto rickshaw. But there was nothing to do as the lab class had to be done. And there are only two lab classes per semester.
When I reached the front of the class at the appointed time, I realized that our teacher had not reached the university yet. I thought maybe he was spending some time with his newly married wife in such romantic weather. But after almost an hour sir did not come to the class. We students were very upset due to Sir's lack of knowledge at such times. If we had known that Sir would come late, we might have slept an hour more in bed. In such romantic weather that anyone wants not to get out of bed. But we were single in the joint meeting so we had no weather demand, which our newly married sir had.
After about 4 to 5 hours of lab classes, when we were returning home, it was still raining as before. Even though such rain since midnight did not cause us any problem, we tried to understand the extent of its impact on the coastal areas. Two days ago, the number 5 danger signal was continued in the coastal area.
After reaching home, I was active on Facebook after having lunch. After a while the cold air started coming. He did not realize that the cyclone would be so strong. The cyclone entered our city around eight o'clock at night. Heavy rain accompanied by a cyclone took the form of someone throwing stones at the glass windows of our house.
Our 6 story building started shaking when the cyclone hit our city at its main point of strength. The wind speed was not very high, but still around 80 to 90 kilometers per hour.
So imagine what happens to those living in tin houses or flimsy houses if our six-story building starts shaking. He works in our house, he told us that the back part of his house was blown away in the storm last night, they fixed it this morning. Everything inside the house was soaked. As we are students, we didn't have much to do for him, but we gave a little money to repair his house, though it was much less than what was needed.
The waves of the Bay of Bengal in the southern part of our country were rising up to about 7 feet. As a result of the floods, water seeps into the city and disrupts the lives of the people in the city.
But after the storm passed, today was just like any other day. However, we have to spend today repairing the damage caused by yesterday's cyclone. As a result of the storm, there was a power outage all day today, resulting in food shortages, especially digestion, which is impossible without electricity.
Thank you for reading :)
I'm sorry my friend. I was broken when I saw the flood. I prayed everyone safe and I hope the floods will be gone. 🙏 Stay safe friend.
