Education is the backbone of a nation. Education, like the human backbone, is one of the most important parts of a nation. The nation moves forward through education, climbing to the top of development. But we do not see a satisfactory picture of the education system in Bangladesh. However, the hope is that the government is working relentlessly to improve the education system, quality of education, education policy, allocation for education, learning environment, etc.

What is education:

English is an English synonym for education, which comes from the Latin word Educere or Educatum. The true identity of man is in his humanity and merit. All the qualities of a perfect human being do not develop in him just by being born as a human child. He has to acquire these qualities in his own pursuit. Education is how much knowledge people have to acquire from different sources to acquire these qualifications or qualities. Education is - 'The harmonious development of body, mind and soul.' That is, education is a continuous method of human, physical and moral training.

Necessity of education:

The need for education in personal, family, social, national and international life is undeniable. Only through education is it possible to achieve extreme excellence in real life. Life can be improved by applying different methods of education keeping in view the goal of acquiring knowledge. It is through education that one can get acquainted with the multifaceted knowledge of the world. Knowing the unknown and applying that knowledge in real life is possible only through education. Education is about developing latent talents, acquiring qualifications and humanity, and benefiting from it by getting acquainted with modern science. After all, education plays a vital role in making life successful, beautiful, meaningful, and successful.

Figure of Education in Bangladesh:

Literacy rate in Bangladesh is 51.7% (Census 2011). The government has promised to rid the country of illiteracy by 2015. Already 99.84 percent of the children have been admitted to the school. Pre-primary education for children aged 3-5 years has been introduced in 31,208 government, registered and community primary schools. More than 63,000 teachers have been appointed in government, primary and secondary schools. About 6 lakh students are being given stipends every year. Free textbooks are being provided for everyone up to secondary level. 1.6 per cent of the country's GDP is spent on education and only 15 per cent of the total government expenditure is allocated for the development of this sector.

National Education Policy:

On 31 May 2010, the 'National Education Policy-2010' was approved by the Cabinet. This education policy has a total of twenty eight chapters and two additions. Some new issues have been added in this education policy. One of them is to make primary education free, universal and compulsory. Education from first to eighth grade is considered as the primary level of education in this education policy. Also-

- Pre-primary education (for 1 year) has been arranged for 5 year old children.

- Scholarships have been provided for fifth class in primary education and tenth class in secondary education.

- In the light of the new education policy, the conventional degree (pass) course system is being abolished and 4 year honors course is being introduced.

- Technical education has been emphasized in the field of education.

At present the quality of education in the country is sad but it is true that at present the quality of education in the country is deteriorating even though the education system is expanding. With the establishment of a large number of private schools, colleges and universities, questions are being raised about the quality of education. The management and quality of secondary education is being severely criticized. There is a lack of qualifications in teaching and learning at both secondary and higher secondary levels. Due to the poverty and inconsistency in education, the students seem to be adopting illegal methods to get the degree as if they have passed the examination. Students are becoming dependent on coaching centers. According to experts, despite the increase in pass rate, the quality of education has declined and there is a significant lack of practical education.

The introduction of a crisis-free education system in Bangladesh is just a matter of time. The education system needs to be developed by changing the system and making the conventional system realistic and free from corruption. Development in the national life will be possible only if the education in Bangladesh can be improved in terms of quality.
