The Pharmacist now a days is playing an important role in drug product selection. Pharmacist can select an equivalent drug products as he dispense. The hospitals or countries where there is a formulary system, the Pharmacist are allowed to select an equivalent drug product from those listed in the formulary. Drug product selection is necessary because : 1. Effect of active ingredient in patient 2.Different formulation has different significance in bioavailability of drug. 3.manufacturing process and material used in formulation can vary from one manufacturer to other.
