Mydriasis refers to the dilation of the pupil, which normally occurs in response to low amounts of light in environment. When there are high amounts of bright light in the environment, such as during the pupil typically constricts or get smaller in order to protect the back of the eyes from excessive light damage. When the pupil constricts, it is called miosis
