MY THOUGHTS ABOUT AUDIOBOOKS.

The first book I'll be giving a review of, is the book I listened and finished just about a week ago. With the title of :

“100 Days of Sunlight” By Abbie Emmons

synopsis

the story begins with a girl having a nightmare and PTSD of the accident that has caused her to lose her eyesight. One day, when Tessa and her grandma are heading out to the mall. A drunk truck driver hit their car. Resulting to Tessa and her grandma in this horrible accident. Thankfully, her grandmother didn't get too much injury. Only a couple bruises. But Tessa, Tessa had an injury that causes her to lose her eyesight for a minimum of 100 days.

A little background for our main character.

Tessa Dickensons is 16 years old, a poet, and a blogger. She's homeschooled ever since she was young. Furthermore, she just didn't want to be around with so much people and much prefer the comfort of her own home.

She lives with her grandparents. They took care of her ever since she was a baby, so she treats them like her actual parent, since Tassa's real Parents are never in the picture.

Her mom got pregnant at college by a frat boy and then abandon her. Now her mother lives in a different state to work. And rarely ever go home or visit her child.

Short description

After Tessa's car accident that causes her to lose her eyesight for a minimum of 100 days, base on her doctor. As a poet and a blogger, she can no longer write her poems and post her blogs. That turned her life not only upside down but even darker. Terrified that her vision might never return, Tessa feels like she has nothing left to be happy about.

Then her grandparents had the idea to hire a ghostwriter, or someone who will write the poems she dictates in behalf of her. So her grandparents decided to send an Ad to the local newspaper publisher without telling Tessa.

After they sent the Ad to the local newspaper publisher, only then-they told Tessa about their plan. They thought that Tessa will be happy with the idea. But, as expected, Tessa went berserk with the idea. She hated the thought of it, because people will know her condition right now and that would cause her so much embarrassment.

So her grandparents contacted the local newspaper publisher to took down the ad, luckily it wasn't published and distributed yet.

But Weston (son of the owner of the local newspaper company), overheard the conversation, his father had with Tessa's grandparents.

Weston got curious what was that about, so his father told him about Tessa and her condition. And so that gave him the idea to go to Tessa's house and apply as a ghostwriter for her.

You might think that this is just some cliché romance, yada yada. But there's a twist.

Weston is an amputee, he lost both of his legs when he was 13 due to an accident.

He thought that he can somewhat relate to Tessa, how it feels like to be always treated as this fragile thing that could break at any moment. How it feels like to be a sob story for people. So he thought of, why not help Tessa with her poem writing and be with her throughout the 100 days while her eyesight hasn't comeback yet.

He then went to Tessa's house and met her grandmother. And like any other, Tessa's grandmother was shocked when he saw West.

Weston Ludovico, a boy her granddaughter's age with bright eyes, an optimistic smile…and no legs.

He talked with Tessa's grandmother and told her he wanted to apply as the ghostwriter, he said she didn't need to pay her, he just really wants to help Tessa.

But he has one condition — no one can tell Tessa about his disability. He said;

“Besides, no one has ever seen the light by being told there are darker places out there.” 

(This is my favorite line from this book, because it's true, you won't get better or feel better when someone told you that other people had it worst. Like for real.)

And because she can’t see him, she treats him with contempt: screaming at him to get out of her house and never come back. But for Weston, it’s the most amazing feeling: to be treated like a normal person, not just a sob story. So he comes back. Again and again and again.

Tessa spurns Weston’s “obnoxious optimism”, convinced that he has no idea what she’s going through. But Weston knows exactly how she feels and reaches into her darkness to show her that there is more than one way to experience the world.

As Tessa grows closer to Weston, she finds it harder and harder to imagine life without him — and Weston can’t imagine life without her. But he still hasn’t told her the truth, and when Tessa’s sight returns, he’ll have to make the hardest decision of his life: vanish from Tessa’s world…or overcome his fear of being seen.

My Thoughts on this book.

This is such a beautiful, heart-warming contemporary romance. It can make you laugh, sad, cringe, grind, and smile.

This is a refreshing story after all the mystery and thriller story I've been listening to.

I would definitely say that this book is on my top 10 contemporary romance book. I just love how it's not some cliché teen romance book. Not only that, but I can also Relate to Tessa In some aspects in the story.

I absolutely recommend this if you're looking for a heart-warming contemporary romance.
