First of all, let's find out what the Sabbath means.
According to a bible dictionary, in the easton's 1897 bible dictionary, the word sabbath came from the Hebrew shabbath meaning "to rest [or to cease] from doing."
The Sabbath of the Jews is the Seventh day and the Christian Sabbath is the first day or week.
For our Christians, the sunday or the first day is very important because on this day the Lord Jesus Christ was resurrected and man's salvation made perfect.
If the Lord had not been resurrected, Christianity would have been lost.
“And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:14)
To those who have saved Christ from sin and with us, the week is very important.
CHURCHES OF CHRISTIANS IN THE BIBLE ARE THE FIRST DAY MADE
“And upon the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. ”(Acts 20: 7)
In fact, when pablo spoke to them, he had just added to their weekly routine.
“Every first day of the week, let every one of you devote to his income and gather it up so as not to ask for the help I am going to again.” (1 Corinthians 16: 2)
Why is the collection on the first day of the week or the very day of the week?
Because Christians from the days of the apostles were on the first day and not on the seventh day or on the Sabbath as our brethren of the seventh day adventists insisted.
We can see that the true followers of Christ are weeks of general assembly and not Saturdays. Those who gather on the Sabbath are Jews.
In fact, the Bible shows that because Christians are no longer on duty, other people are judging them.
And to encourage them, Paul said to the Christians in Colossae.
So don't be subject to any rules about food or drink, about festivals, the new moon or the DAY OF HEARING. (Colossians 2:16)
Now there are people who condemn us Catholics for the SABBATH issue. According to them we Catholics have changed the holiday day. They say that what we Catholics do is wrong because it's supposed to be Saturday.
To the catholic brothers the bible tells us not to judge our seventh-day adventists who have hitherto insisted that the Sabbath is a Sabbath and that it is only the first day or week.
THE ISSUE OF OUR CATHOLIC CHALLENGE AND THEY SAID IT IS, “WHY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH WAS TAKEN DAY FROM SATURDAY TO SUNDAY?
Some have misunderstood or argued that the Sabbath is only celebrated on the seventh day.
The Sabbath of the Jews is the seventh day and the Christian Sabbath is the first day or week.
The Sabbath is not just on the seventh day.
If we read what is written in the Bible,
“In the first day ye shall have a holy convocation; you shall not work. ”(Leviticus 23: 7)
We must understand that in the time of the Hebrews there were no names. The days are called the first day of the week, the second day, and the day is the same.
Let us remember that the Sabbath is not work and that the Lord commands it on the first day.
It is clear that they did not change the Sabbath. Some people just misunderstand that they think the Sabbath is limited.
When Christ was born, he corrected that misunderstanding.
“Jesus also said that the day of rest should be set for the benefit of man; man was not created for the day of rest. ”(Mark 2:27)
For those who do not know Christ, they are still "Sabbath".
As we note, none of the bible read that the early Christians gathered on the Sabbath after the Lord Jesus was resurrected.
There is no record in the bible that the Lord Jesus met with His disciples while He was on earth on the Sabbath.
The question is why did the Lord Jesus not meet His Apostles on the Sabbath?
Sunday or First Arraw Sunday the disciples of the Lord Jesus were gathering together so Jesus appeared to them one week.
The first time was the night after the master's resurrection.
“During the evening of the week, the disciples gathered. They shut the doors of the house where they were meeting because of the fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood in their midst. Peace be upon you! He said. ”(John 20:19)
One week later, the Christians met again.
“One week later, the disciples again gathered in the house and Thomas was with them. The doors were closed, but Jesus entered and stood in their midst. He said, Peace be with you! ”(John 20:26)
The day of the week or the first day is of utmost importance to our Catholics and Christians, as it is the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.
Have a bless day everyone.
