Low Engine Power Causes There are many potential causes of low engine power. Some possible reasons include: -A lack of fuel or air getting to the engine -A malfunctioning ignition system -A problem with the compression in one or more cylinders -A clogged air filter or exhaust system -A malfunctioning or damaged turbocharger or supercharger -A problem with the engine management system or sensors -Worn or damaged internal engine parts such as pistons, bearings or valvetrain components.
