Just because we've had bear markets before, does not necessarily mean we'll have bear markets again. Previous market action was dictated by the then prevailing conditions which may not be currently at play. The market will respond to current events. Therefore, the only reason we could go into a bear market is because everyone is expecting us to go into a bear market. It becomes a sort of self fulfilled prophecy.
