What the! So my question now is are we still withdrawing .5% every day still or we just have increased the duration of the fund for longer time?

That makes sense. So, this doesn't necessarily mean that the payouts per user per day might be higher but it just looks like that they will probably just cater to a larger user base as the user base grows during the following months!
It's actually both. Like on any platform, top authors earn much more, so the bigger the platform grows both the top authors will get more and more users will get paid.

Marc informed us about his intention to pledge a few days before this announcement and we discussed this $100,000 pledge with Marc before we decided on $4,000/month ($133/day) spending. The problem is that if we spend a lot more now, then when the site starts growing even bigger - we'll have less and less money to support authors. It's better to start smaller and increase spending as the the site grows. After running the numbers we decided to start at $4,000/month for the first month and increase it as necessary.

This maybe a stupid question but I am trying to understand maybe how business works here. What does Marc get out of this? Or is it that he just has way too much and is just giving back without expecting anything in return?
Marc really believes in Bitcoin Cash, so he's willing to invest some of it to ensure that many-many people try to use Bitcoin Cash, thereby bringing value to it. He wants to see read.cash survive, so that if everything goes to the plan we have we might be able to finance millions of people, making even more (millions and maybe hundreds of millions) of people worldwide use Bitcoin Cash. If we succeed in that plan that would bring tremendous value to BCH and raise it price considerably, making Marc even more money.
That's what I thought as well and just wanted to confirm my assumption. This is really the most organic way to grow imo
