Power of not giving up! I, sometimes, wonder that how life would have been if I had just given up the idea of working hard. What would it have been like if I was not even trying? My mind usually tells me that the answer to this question is that I would have been highly depressed, sad and just filled with the feeling of disappointment. Well, I hope you understand that this article is filled with a bit of happiness but as you bear with me you will see that every cloud has a silver lining and you just have to go and get it. So let me just begin by saying I was extremely shy and awkward and weird as a teenager. I think saying that I was an introvert would not be completely true. Because introverts usually have their own comfort zone where they might feel good and not anxious at all. But in my case, even when I was alone, I felt anxious. I felt judged, judged by me. I always found myself thinking that I just was not good enough to achieve anything good in my life. The major reason of why I used to feel that I just was not good looking enough to fit in. My classmates in school made sure that I felt inferior. In addition to it, I have an amazing, beautiful, outgoing and just perfect elder sister. I was usually compared to her. I always thought that no matter how good I was in studies, I would never be able to cope with anything. But as I grew up, I realized how wrong I had been all along. I always loved reading, writing and music. Whenever I started writing, I just felt that I do not belong here. I am in my own world with my own rules and there is no nobody to judge me or bully me or compare with anybody else. I would feel like I was on the top of the world. Fortunately, one of my English teachers used to observe me and the way I used to get engrossed while writing. Let me remind you that I felt so awkward at all times that I never participated in class to present the piece I had written. Though I always used to get pretty good grades, especially in writing. Well, my teacher understood that I won't be comfortable enough to read it out loud. So he just came over and started reading my essay to the whole class. Everyone was so surprised as they loved it. My teacher appreciated the essay a lot too. That was the moment, my moment! It told me that I could do a lot better than I already was. I was not as bad and useless I always believed I was. Later on, I worked more and more on my writing skills. I began to present in my class too. Soon, I was considered to be the top writer and presenter of my class.
As I enrolled in the university that I always dreamed to go to, I pursued my career in writing as well. As they say, practice makes perfect! It really does. Soon I was able to get a job as a writer and I am working as one till this day. My journey taught me that it is up to you to find your silver lining. Yes, sometimes you might need someone to make you realize that this is your moment to take it all in. But then again, it is up to you to grab that opportunity and turn it all up in your favor. Now I have not only accepted the way I am but also feel that I did not have any weaknesses in me, I just had room for improvement that I tried to fill. I am still working to improve it more and more and I really hope to get better with each passing day. But the main idea is that I did not give up on my passion, my thoughts and myself. I did not give up on me. I worked and worked and worked. It did not only help me polish my skills but helped me to understand myself and posed some self-love into me. One thing that I am sure about now is that there is no one that can make me feel inferior ever again as I feel that I have worked myself through the dark times and I am just good as everybody. I have finally eliminated that inferiority complex that I had and that is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I can never be grateful enough to those very few people who helped me grow and go through this journey.
