Yesterday was my uncle's first death anniversary. And this picture was the food they prepared for commemorating it. Filipino traditions have it, that a year after the death of a loved one, the remaining family will arrange for a small gatherings should they have enough budget to spend, otherwise if there's no budget after all, a prayer for the soul is just enough. I was not able to go there, so my mother just brought me this combined food they shared. The death anniversary reminds me, how time flies. It's been a year that he's gone, and it's been also a year that I been relocated and living here in the province. How time flies!

Your uncle was happy to see this. We also have this tradition
Yes, as Filipinos, we not only prepare food to share with our loved ones, but we also offer prayers to those we love who have passed on.
We have the same tradition here
