I don't know if you are familiar with this kind of food. No it's not fried rice. It's not a crushed or chopped meat either. It's called dulong in our local language. It is a variety of smallest fish that could harvest in the nearby lake. It's tasty and delicious even if you just cook it with vinegar and garlic seasoned with salt and pepper. Ever since the first time I tasted it, I always look for it. I was only a kid when I first tried it as a viand and I fell in love with it. Back in the old days, my grandmother usually used to serve this on our table, for you can buy it anytime of the day. Some vendors sell it in raw but most of the time, other sell it in cooked already. Those were the days where you can fished dulong easily. But as the time pass by, here in our province, it is now hard to find. And if in yesteryears, you can buy it anywhere and in handful, now, you are lucky if you can find it in the market or if someone sell it on the street. And if do they sell it, the quantity are lesser than back on the old days.
First time I have heard of it. Maybe there is scarcity that's why the supply is no longer abundant unlike before.
What's the name of the lake where they caught those fish sir?
In our area sir, we called it maranay. We usually buy it per cup or per salmon. 1 salmon price about 70-90 pesos. Theres a lot of way to cook it. Sometimes we cook it with vinegar, we put the dulong/maranay in a banana leaf or mango leaf ang let it simmer until its cooked. Sometimes we put an egg with it amd fry ut. We also kilaw it specially if its a fresh catch.
I know this food. Almost common viand in our province, Rizal. Most popular was adobong dulong.
