My First and Second day at my new school of Practicum.

Without this log book, it's just like a farmer going to the farm without his Cutlass and hoes. So we had to wait for two days till we all got our log books and we took off the journey that took us three hours to get to our destination. So, on the 18th, we couldn't make it to the school and our concern was that the school we are to observe this Practicum would think we aren't serious with it. We already missed two days, so we planned on explaining things to them and what caused the delay. Thank God some set of Counselors (300 level students) resumed on the 18th, which we didn't know about. I thought we were the only one that would be present (I and my two friends). **On the 19th of May....**

So, we resumed on Wednesday but we were late, we got to the school at 8:40 am. We ought to resume school by 7:30am but some unexpected circumstances came up that we had to get delayed because of it. When we got there, the Principal was at first angry at us but after we explained ourselves to her, she calmed down and we were shown our new office. When we got to the office, we already met two students counselor and they were our junior because they are just doing it for the first time in their 300 level, so we would have to guide them since we already did it before and have the experience of how it is. We decided not to do anything for that day and we postponed our activities till the next day. We talked about how to decorate our office so those coming to seek counsel would know this is a Counselling office even without been told. So we estimated everything and how much it will cost us. This was what we were doing until they rang the bell for closing at 2:00pm. We all departed and left for our various homes. **On the 20th of May.....** So, we arrived the school premises at 7:40am and met them on the assembly.

We had to join them too and monitor the students so they can be well organized. Thank God we have a school counselor around which we can go to for help and seeing her for the day, we knew she would be nice. Though, she isn't that much friendly but we need to create a rapport between ourselves. After the assembly, we decided to go check all the classes and introduce ourselves so that they can know who we are. The five of us went to each classes and we introduced ourselves by saying our names and then assured them to always feel free to come to us for help in any areas. We told them their secret is confidential with us as this is one of the ethics of Counseling as profession. We explained the difference between Guidance and Counseling to them and they were so happy. We went back to our offices after covering all the classes with the introduction. We already achieved our aim for that day. After so much discussion about how to go for our Career Day which is a compulsory program to host in the school premises to help counsel the students, the school ended in happiness and everyone of us went our different places. After leaving school, we went to the hospital to check on our friend's mother who is in the hospital. This is the environment and here is one of my friend.

When I was hungry, my friend had to follow me to a Food Canteen with the help of a security who led the way for us.

But unfortunately, I didn't see the food I wanted to eat and we went back to the hospital and check on the mother until it was getting late. We then left the premises while our friend's relatives came to meet us at the hospital as they would be staying overnight with her as the doctors attended to her. This was how my day went as a student counselor.
