Lack of Preparation

Yesterday's seminar hit many students as they thought they won't be giving a speech. We have been told about this seminar since last year before we went for Christmas and New Year. Some took it not being serious and never got prepared. They thought they wouldn't contribute but what happened yesterday proved that lack of Preparation will definitely lead to failure.

Many people loved shirking responsibilities but when it comes to them unexpectedly, they feel surprised and at the end of it, be speechless.

I kept smiling in my mind yesterday seeing my colleagues presenting. Well, I wasn't mocking or making jest of them, but the thought "unprepared" got me smiling.

We were divided into two groups ending to number 30 but in each group are eight students. It was yesterday that it was announced that once each group is being called, they will all come out, the leader would do the introduction and summary while each student would pick a subtopic and present. This seminar stands for our exam which means we won't be writing but will be done orally. So, it's left for us to decide what we want.

What would be judged from us is our dressing mode, disposition of speech and whatever the judges feel like checking. There was a guy who didn't come prepared at all, his hair was bushy, no tie, no shoe but sandals which was a total disqualification for him. When they had presented, one of the lecturers (judge) spoke frantically that he would have given him a zero in everything because one thing disqualified him- his hair and dressing were out of it.

One thing in life is that if you fail to plan, automatically you plan to fail. There is nothing impossible in this. An individual who isn't prepared for an interview but went for one will surely be disqualified immediately. One thing about preparation is your boldness that would be revealed. When a person is well prepared, he is 💯 percent sure of giving his or her best.

There is no shortcut to success at all if you think there's, then do not work hard or put in your best effort, then see how it turns out to be. Preparing well for a task is a proof that you are really into business and whatever it would take, you give it.

Some students were even reading from the booklet we were allowed to use, just because they failed to prepare. They already left the assignment for the group leader alone but it was a shock to them and this would definitely affect their scores.

When a student isn't prepared for talks like this, the disadvantage in it is embarrassment and also would make such individual's low self esteem occur thereby affecting his or her grades in academics. When you do not get prepared, you fall and disgrace yourself.

I have a friend who would never be serious with reading for test but so sure to write something definitely. She has something she depended on which is cheating with her phone but this is risky. You may think you can have your way but you won't be able to predict what could happen next. It will be a poor performance when you are caught cheating or you aren't able to have your way copying because an invigilator stands beside you all through the time. This is why we need to be prepared at all times so we won't waste time doing what is even easy.

Preparation is important because it will reduce your error, make you confident, be able to manage your time judiciously and then help you reduce stress and anxiousness because by that time, you won't have anything to worry about since you already know what you have in mind and head to dish out.

In life, we must be prepared for the worse ahead of us because I wouldn't guarantee us of a rosy life. Life comes with challenges and if you aren't ready for it, it will take you to where you least expected. Be prepared for everything so that when it comes, you won't have to keep running, looking for solutions and by that time, it's already a wasted effort for you because you will lose. It's that simple. Let me stop here for now.
