Neil Young doubling down after Spotify's decision to not pull Joe Rogan from their platform by calling for Spotify employees to quit their jobs is just more of what is wrong with the world today, where rather than have discussions about issues, we simply want to silence those who share opinions that do not align with others. The only two people so far in this debate who have acted like grown-ups have been Spotify CEO Ek who made the decision not to pull Rogan's podcast, and Joe Rogan himself who has openly been fair and balanced in his approach, listening to the concerns expressed, and listening to the opposing opinions, even deciding on his own to pull over 100 episodes of his podcast from Spotify. The same people who are constantly trying to beat down anyone who has a view that differs from their own—the ilk who live in Hollywood and jam our airwaves with music and elitist athletes—are those who will decry that bullying is wrong and the scourge of humanity. Yet these tactics are all as much bullying as anything is. "It's my way or no way." "My voice is the only important voice in the world." "Your opinion does not matter and should be silenced." It's just wrong on all levels, and it has gotten to a point of critical mass in my opinion. Nobody on either side of any issue or argument should be okay with this. We have to protect ALL speech, because one day will come when it is YOUR speech that someone will want to silence.
