In China (and I guess the Philippines), red symbolizes happiness and is a color that’s strictly forbidden at funerals. In South Africa, red has been adopted as a color of mourning, representing the bloodshed suffered during the Apartheid era. For some, ang kamatayon panahon sa kaguol, for others, it is a time for celebrating a life well lived. So, kang kinsang tradition dapat ifollow? For me, there is no right and wrong way to mourn. There is no specified time unsa kataas or kamubo ang period of mourning. Just do what feels right for you; other people's traditions be damned!
