Letter To My 18-Year-Old Self

Dear me,

You are officially adult now. What an incredible time you are going through right now. You spent your childhood in the 80's and early 90's with such joy. You had unforgettable memories and of course you made lots of friends.

I can assure you, that some of your friends will remain your friends for your entire life. Such long and true friendships. Always treat them the same way as they treat you. They diserve it. You will see, that they will always be there, when you need them. They don't expect the same from you, but a true friendship will be kept, if you help out each other in difficult times.

Keep your good habit of being creative and open minded. It will help you out later on in your life. Always stay as you are and be yourself. I know you are never bothered about what others say about you or do behind your back. It is their problem not yours.

The beginning of your adulthood will not always be that smooth. When you will be turning into 20, there will be a time, when you should avoid some of your friends. I warn you they will get you into trouble. You will see and do a lot. Sometimes a little too much. I have to tell you, it will be tough, but you will go through it. Nothing very serious though.

To make it a little easier for you, I would say though, be sure who you are with as a partner. A beautiful face and smiling eyes are not necessary a good choice. Not always anyway. I know you are young and you cannot give command to your heart.

You as well as many others at your age always go by their heart and easily fall in love. The only person you can trust 100% is always you. Keep that in mind. Never mind you are not the only one, who make mistakes. Just like everybody else you are a human being and nobody is perfect.

You are doing well and you always will. Just go on your own way and make your own decisions. Don't let others influence you. It might change you. It will be hard sometimes, but you will find the right path to walk on. You will be having a hard time at the most beautiful age of your life, but don't worry you will find your way and settle with your own family.

Keep yourself motivated and stay as ambitious as you are. Oh and please don't forget about your adventurous times, but if I can advise you travel a lot and start travelling soon. This is a beautiful world with a lot to explore. Spain, Italy and Tunisia will give you so much experiences and don't forget the Alps in Germany.

When it comes to taking a job, do not just take the most easiest and most convenient job, that comes in. You will see if you put some effort in and if you learn new things, there will be new doors opening for you. You don't know yet, but you are more capable to do and learn different skills, than you think.

Do not underestimate yourself. Look at successful people. What they are doing and you don't have to reinvent the wheel. During your life technology will develop apace. When time comes something new will turn up, that could be significantly change your life.

I am glad to know, that you have so many hobbies and you are interested in many things. Why not turn your hobbies into a profession, so you will enjoy, that you will be doing. You know your job will not be a job anymore. It will be something, that you love doing and that is the best thing. Use your creativity and knowledge, that you will gain and you will see endless opportunities in front of you.

Don't get too upset if you are disappointed in your relationships. Although you think, that you found the one you love, it is not always the one, who will support you, listen to you, love you and stay with you for your entire life. I know it is hard, but you know what people say. If you love her, let her go.
