Every day there are hundreds of opportunities for us to give up. It could even be one small decision. Getting really good at anything takes practice. That's why the daily practice is the perfect place to start. We all know what it takes to create the life we dream of. We know what it takes to reach success, have meaningful conversations, have more energy, have more love for ourselves, be more productive, etc.
But it's easy to forget these things when our lives are filled with work, family commitments, and daily activities. These so-called un-important things we do on a daily basis. This is where we can strengthen our internal connection and reconnect with our inner greatness. Every day that you don't take a break from your normal life is a missed opportunity to shine. Every day that you put off practicing something new is a missed opportunity to improve yourself, no matter how small.
Step Away From Distractions
Distractions are everywhere. The phone, TV, computer, chats, social media, all these things can take your eyes off of what's really important in your life. One of the greatest distractions we have in our modern society is technology. It's very easy to become engulfed in this grey zone between work and play. You can easily get so lost in a video game, that you don't realize how many hours have passed. Or perhaps you find yourself on your phone so much, that you conversation skills have suffered.
These things aren't inherently bad. We all need fun. We all need play. But we mustn't let them take us away from the daily journey. Otherwise, we might find ourselves on the wrong side of the job market, or worse yet, no job at all. Technology can be your friend, if you use it the way it should be used.
Step away from the distractions. Put down the phone. Turn off the TV. Leave the computer alone. Go outside and enjoy the sunshine. Talk to real people. Realize how much you still haven't told them about yourself. Realize how little you truly know about them.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying ignore technology. Use it to your advantage. All of us can learn more about what we're doing and achieve more greatly by studying and practicing the arts of technology. Just don't let it consume you.
Strengthen Your Intentions
You have the ability within you to realize your dreams. It's not a question of if, but when. You just have to remember why you want to do this in the first place. Things will not always go as planned. In fact, quite the contrary is true. We all experience failure along the way. But if you don't stop, you'll never realize your dreams. To do that, you first have to accept that you'll never be perfect. You'll never live up to other's expectations. In fact, you shouldn't.
You should always try to do better. Maybe not better than someone else, but better than you did before. Being satisfied with what you have achieved is a great thing, but outperforming yourself is even greater. I'm glad I finally learned the lesson myself. But if you really want to achieve your goals, then you need to make them priorities. Don't let anything else get in the way.
You only get one chance to achieve your goals. Make it count. I can't tell you how to do it. I don't know your reasons. I don't know your life. I can't tell you how to live it. All I can say is to strengthen your intentions and by doing that, you'll be taking the first step towards making your dreams a reality.
Challenge Embarrassment
This is the part that many people struggle with. Everyone has insecurities of one kind or another. Maybe it's self-consciousness, maybe it's social anxiety, maybe it's an inferiority complex, or maybe it's a superiority complex. But these things do exist, and they're very real. They're not necessarily flaws in yourself or a weakness on your part. Everyone has them to one degree or another. What matters is how you deal with them.
In the real world, there are going to be times, where you're going to mess up. In fact, you're probably going to mess up a lot. What matters is how you deal with those moments afterwards. How do you react, when people find out something embarrassing about you? How do you react, when you say or do something stupid? How do you react, when you fail?
These are all the questions, that you should to ask yourself. Are you going to let these things bring you down or are you going to take a lesson from it and move on? You have the chance to be who you want to be. Will you take that chance or are you going to hide in the darkness? Don't be afraid to speak out. If something is wrong, speak out against it. Don't be part of the problem. Make a change to see everything better around you.
Graduating From Negativity To Optimism
If you have been struggling with self-doubt, if you have been feeling as if you're not good enough and it's all because of what others think of you, then you have to change your mindset about it. You are good enough, you are smart enough, and you are talented enough. Look at all the things you've accomplished in your life. Look at the things you've built. Look at the people you've made laugh. Look at the times you've helped someone in need.
If you see all these things, then you know you can do it. Just have to put more optimism into it. Put aside all your negativity that's been holding you back and just keep doing what you've been doing. Remind yourself of what you want to be and who you want to be. Keep pushing yourself and in time, you'll start believing it yourself. The power of confidence is a wonderful thing. With confidence, you can achieve practically anything.
Experiment With Your Limits
I have found that the limits are the limits only, until you prove them wrong. Everyone has their own limit on what they can achieve. What is the largest size house you think you could build? What is the fastest speed you could travel? What is the highest jump you could make? And once you break through those limitations, what's next?
There is no end to your potential. As long as you believe you can achieve something, you absolutely can. You probably heard "be yourself" a million times. There's a common misunderstanding, that being yourself means being pretentious or acting in a strange and outlandish way. It doesn't. Being yourself means, that you should always be yourself. Trust your instincts and act on them.
If that means standing out and being remarkable, then that's what you should do. If that means standing out and being unusual, then that's what you should do. If that means doing something no one else would do, then you should do it. If that means stepping out of your comfort zone, then you should do it.
Not everyone will understand you, and that's okay. Don't worry about being the center of attention. Not everyone wants to be the center of attention. That's their right. Just do what you want to do, because it is better to be yourself, than to try to be somebody else.
Every day that you don't take a break from your normal life is a missed opportunity to shine.
