Even Though She Was An Addict, I Still Loved Her U It's been a hard road for her, and for me. I've seen her at her worst, and I've seen her at her best. I've seen her cry, and I've seen her laugh. I've seen her struggle, and I've seen her triumph. I remember the first time I saw her using drugs. I was just a kid, and I didn't understand what was happening. I just knew that my mom was different when she was using drugs. She was always happy and full of energy when she was using, but when she wasn't using she was always tired and sad.

I didn't understand why she would want to use drugs, but I knew that it made her happy. I didn't judge her, I just accepted her for who she was. As I got older, I started to see the effects that drugs were having on my mother. She would always be tired and anxious, and she would sometimes forget to take care of herself. She would neglect her appearance and her health. I started to worry about her, and I begged her to stop using drugs. But she didn't listen to me. She said that she needed them to cope with her life. I didn't know what to do. I felt helpless and alone. I didn't want to see my mother destroy herself, but I didn't know how to help her. Then, one day, I came home from school and found her passed out on the couch. I knew she was using again. I was so angry and frustrated. I wanted to shake her and make her realize what she was doing to herself. But I didn't. I just sat down next to her, troubled while I wept for my lifeless mother. I cried for her and for myself. I cried for the mother I used to have and for the woman she had become. I didn't give up on her, though. I continued to try to help her, and to be there for her. I showed her that I loved her, no matter what. And eventually, my mother did stop using drugs. It was a long and hard road, but she made it. She's been clean for years now, and she's turned her life around. I'm so proud of her, and of what she's accomplished. She will always be my heroine, and I love her greatly.  **Words On Marble:** If you have a relative that is a drug addict, don't shove them away.
